filter thread size of kit lens?

Postby jdear on Fri Dec 03, 2004 5:31 pm

just a quickie (question);

what diameter is the 18-70mm kit lens that comes with the d70?

I have a tonne of filters of size 62mm would love to buy a step up / down ring to accomdate them.

filters are:

3x nikon L1Bc
hoya skylight(1B)
nikon 056 (orange)
nikon A2 (amber)
nikon B2 (blue)
nikon circular polarizer POLAR
nikon polarizer
hoya center-spot
nikon L37c
hoya fog filter (b)
hoya fog filter (a)
nikon soft 1
nikon soft 2
nikon UV

and other ones im not sure what they do.

Step Up Up and Away :)
Just watch out for vignetting at the lower focal lengths.

While we're on stepping rings, what size mouth does the 70-200VR and the 80-400VR have? I was thinking about buying filters but I reckon if that's the best lense I'll have I should get filters to suit that and just use a step down.

jdear - from memory the consumer tele zooms (70-300G and ED) have 62mm filter threads, so they'll fit em perfectly. Also, the 28-200G takes 62mm too.

I realise there's alot of filters you have there, but don't restrict your new lens buying decisions based on what you currently have in filters. Hey if they're genuine Nikon brand, you can flog them off for a handsome price on uPay and contribute towards your fund.
