18mm or 24mmVR?Leichhardt NSW 7-30 pm. I still enjoy the kit lens and may replace it with a 24-120 VR in the near future .Those that have the 24-120VR do you miss that little bit wider advantage of the 18-mm on the kit lens? I am not too worried about the extra reach but do like the advantages of VR in low light. LOZ
No, not really!
Or keep 18-70 and get extra 24-120VR, then you won't miss anything. Birddog114

Loz. Get the 24-120 it's much better as a walk around than the kit. Check these three recent posts of mine from last weekend where most shots were taken with the 24-120 and quite a few at 24mm. I think you'll agree it's range is pretty versatile:
Night & Day Rosemount Estate Bibs & Bobs Only time I feel a need to go wider is for big landscapes and then I tend to be below 18mm anyway (using the 12-24) Peter

I agree with what Stubbsy has said, get the VR for your walk about lens and get the 12-24 (or similar brand) wide angle for those wide shots you crave.
I don't have a wide angle yet... but after using Glen's Sigma at Luna wharf it's sure worth having both lenses! Nikon F80D, FM2n
