Picture of the Week 11.10.05

I never thought I would be picking an image of a naked couple having sex for PotW, but here it is.

Brilliant shot with interesting subject matter, great DOF, good use of a white background, but really it is a great macro with sexual innuendo, what a perfect PotW. Congratulations Rel on a great capture.

Deservedly so.
Despite the many light-hearted comments on this pic (including mine), it is a seriously good macro image - well presented too, with that white background.

Congratulations Rel. :D

Great shot, great selection.

The hardest thing was probably getting them to smile while they were concentrating.

Congratulations Rel! Excellent image. When I first opened this image on the forum, I let out a roar of laughter, my fiance Bel asked me what I was looking at, I said '"its pornographic..want to see?'"she said "no thanx"in a tone that suggested she wasn't impressed, then I showed her what I was looking at..hahahaha...she laughed her head off! Brilliant macro work, well done and thanx for the laugh! Glen, great choice too mate!

BlacknStormy is a star performer at the best of times but this superb macro (verging on micro?) shot is a pearler. Skill and wit - how can you top that?

And a visual antonym for the expression "fly is undone"!

Congratulations and please show us more.

I take your point Gary,

I had meant for BlacknStormy to share more of her oeuvre on a more regular basis but yes, perhaps this R-Certificate number could be further investgated to get to an X-Certificate.

Mind you, there are kiddies watching and the odd sensitive geriatric - maybe best left where it is.

Congratulations, Narelle, on your first POTW.

Seems a lifetime ago that Gary was having a light-hearted jibe at you about lurking for AGES before you posted anything on the forum. At the same time I remember I was constantly at you at work about not putting any images up.

I don't think there have been any of your shots that haven't hit the mark. You've become one of the 'must see' posters on this site and I'm looking forward to what you choose to share with us in future.

Well chosen Glen.
This has set the bar that much higher for the rest of us. I think I'll have to take some time off work to go hunting for that elusive, ethereal POTW ...

, they are capable of so much more than buzzing, they can practice physical love. You have captured the natural beauty of insects i find repulsive.

Just on the off-chance that it is not going to be up for a second week (no pun intended) I have a question related to this pic. I mean, we have all ASUMED ... but is this actually how flies give and take pleasure? Or is it a piggy-back? Or perhaps one just jumped low at leap-frog? Perhaos it is a deformity? "Is that another fly you're shaggin' Louis?" "Naah, it just started out as a growth on my belly this morning!"

They're bad and mean and mighty unclean ... afraid of no one - 'cept the man with the can of .....

Cheers,

Hey,

Ain't Mother Nature a kind and generous soul? To think that a dude who frequents dung heaps and goes by the name of Drosophila melanogaster can actually get laid! Man, there's hope for all of us!

By the way, do I gather from the sequence that male flies might be French. Bit of tongue work happening there before the willy gets a run.

Sorry, buggered and silly after a long day of hard yakka.

You really are a scary lot in this forum aren't you???? I don't know why the photo is still there - I know it's not that good! For the record, the flies are sarcophagids, or flesh flies, and give birth to live maggots - there's no fly eggs in this equation. I can tell you more, but that is probably enough for most of you. (Steve - they are definitely locals)

Sheetshooter - the willy is already in !!!!! :?

Blacknstormy,

Please allow me to apologise. I did not wish to detract from you great shot. (You might not think much of it but I think it is one of the most capable and wonderful pics I have seen on the site - as are many of your offerings.)

I realise that in your shot the choo-choo was already in the tunnel but in the graphic on Kinetics link there was a little courtship happening and the odd yodel seemed part of it.

Do keep posting your macro shots - they are really wonderful and entertaining in the extreme.

(Are these insect pics part of your work?)

Cheers,

Sheetshooter, seeing you seem so interested, this is what a male fly aedeagus (willy) looks like. (didn't have time to go through my drawings, so downloaded one of a robber fly for you).......

And don't apologise - ask Manta - I love sh*t stirring, so have been having a ball :) (no pun intended). My other half and I have a business conducting fauna surveys, so many of my shots are taken while we are working - but mostly just for fun. I'm learning, and have a long long way to go, but what a fun trip it is !!!

Her suggestion that Leigh should have cracked onto the sort made me go and read the blog.

Shit man!

At 87 kilos how the bleedin' hell do you have any spare weight to lose?? I've just been putting myself through the diet number for a while and I have shed just over 20 kilos. (Mustn't say lose because we might find them again and besides, choo-choos sleep in sheds and they get to play in tunnels.) But hey, I had a hundred and fifty of the bastards to dispense with to begin with. According to the quack even my GOAL WEIGHT is heaps more than 87 friggin' kilos. Don't stand in a strong wind Leigh, you'll whistle like a telegraph line.

Cheers,

Oh .... and I have a contact who heads the film faculty at UTS so maybe there is a conduit to the Werris. (If that's what she is!)

You wish. 8)

And why didn't I? Because I'm an absolute idiot.

And yeah Sheetshooter, she's a film student at UTS. Seemed really quite cool.

And yes I know...
