Backpack Recomendations?

Postby BBJ on Wed Oct 12, 2005 7:08 pm

Hi all, well tried a backpack on today but not for camera gear ,thought it might be ok to use on trips away where i have to do some walking and carry some gear. Thinking about a backpack so i can carry camera and and also 300m f2.8 as it is ok to carry the case around but can not cart it everywhere. So any suggestions on which one where and how much, have not bothered too much about them as i am a big fellow and not sure how they would fit.
Thanks

Thanks mate well i am sort of packed i cart everything around in a big plastic storage box as you know but would be easier when you have to walk around and cart your gear, something to look at anyhow and i will enjoy the trip and will try hook up with Jase and mate gonna take my 300m lens in and i will pic up at media centre from him.
Cheers

I have a lowepro computrekker plux AW which fits a 15.4' laptop, 2 bodies, about 8 lens and a tripod. I only have my laptop, D70, 50 mm, 70-300G, 18-70mm and SB600. Most of it is empty. Its big, its heavy and unpractical. Unless a laptop is required dont get this one BBJ.

LOWEPRO PRO TREKKER AW II BLACK or LOWEPRO NATURE TREKKER AW II BLACK is the one you should look at.
Hilop got one of these and he's happy with his setup.

Thanks Birdie, like i said i had not thought of 1 as i normally take this big storage container with all my gear in it, but like going to Phillip Island and other places 1 could be handy, i see Maxwells price is not to be sneezed at as well.

I have the Lowepro computrekker II AW.

It takes my 20D, 70-200 2.8, 17-40, 100 macro, flash etc no problems. I don't find it the most comfortable backpack, but its okay. I have worn it all day without problems, but you definately know its there.

I have been very surprised with my (recently acquired) Crumpler Farmers double. This is quite comfortable to wear. It won't take your body with 300 on, but I would guess that with the body and wide lens etc in the camera pocket in the bottom of it, you could put the 300 in its own bag in the 'main' compartment.

Another option to consider.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.
