Kenko teleconverters - where to buy?

Postby Werewolf on Fri Dec 03, 2004 9:47 pm

Looking for a Kenko Pro series 1.4 or 2. Anyone seen them in Sydney?

Anyone using them? Thoughts please? Supposedly equal to the Nikons but less than half the mulla.

You talking about the Kenko Teleplus Extension Tube Set?

If so, what coincidence. I'm just looking at them on a website now :)

Which leads me to my question. Has anybody used extension tubes and how good are they?

I think the Tamron Pro series might be a better buy. I have the 2X and am very satisified with it. Probably the same price as the kenko. The 2X was about $295 at Teds Camera Store. Good luck either way!

The real story is Tamron is Kenko and Kenko is Tamron.

Kipper i think Werewolf is referring to the teleconverters and not the extension tube set. Don't know anything myself about the Kenko Pro teleconverters.

But, I just picked up my Kenko extension tube kit this afternoon. Haven't had a chance to try out yet. I found the articles on the following website useful.

Spot on Nicole! I've actually tracked some down on eBay via HK sellers. Unfortunately Poon only has the (lovely but expensive Nikons). The 1.4 and 2 Pro series go for almost the same price, roughly $220.00 a piece incl postage. Something I'll be looking into now that my eBay a/c has been un-suspended!!! Some jerk had accessed my a/c and was selling, believe it or not, Harley Davidsons under my name!!

Harley Davidsons.....geez! Well I've heard that the 2x is not worth it. The loss in f stops and quality. But this is not from personal experience just from reading. Apparently the 1.4x is worthwhile. Something I might look into one day to go with the 80-400VR.

Nicole,
Today at the clinic, we shoot the 80-400VR with TamronTC-2.0
I think few members experienced with it as Gary, Geoff and Onyx. (finally with the Tamron TC the 80-400 = 1200)
Hope to hear and see pics from them.

So what is approx. cost for Tamron TC-2.0 for 80-400VR and Tamron recommendation for 70-200VR?.

Cheers,

Nicole,
I think Matt.K said it's around AU$295.00 at Teds Camera, I'm sure it works with 70-200VR
