SB800, manual, Sigma 70-300 macros

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Hi all,

I have been playing with the SB800, Sigma 70-300 taking
manual, handheld macros and I am impressed about the possibilities.
This combination rocks. I took the shots at 1/500 and f10 handheld.

Nice work. As a new SB800 owner, I am very encouraged. I was chancing my arm with my Tamron 70-300 on macro today with the SB800, but I think I was a bit adventurous trying to get a shot of a bird inside a large camelia tree. Will try some inanimate objects tomorrow.

We have exactly the same "door furniture" as shown in shot #2!

Very nice shots Christiand - just goes to prove that Sigma lens are very good - I use a Sigma macro and could not be more pleased with its performance.

SB800 manual is not for humans ...

Matt,

I have a lot of trouble understanding the SB800 manual.
I pick up hints and tricks from the forums.
It is quite interesting to see the SB800 related questions that are being posted. Clear indication that the manual is one of many building blocks.
I am trying to find a book that covers the how do I do this and how do I do that and I would like to do this, how do I do it. BTW these macro shots were taken with spot metering. (matrix blows the images)
