can I ask what the purpose of the placeholder image is ?
Is there a limit on how many people can enter ? A bit confused Dave

Dave
You can enter one image in round 1 and one image in round 2. If you don't enter round 1 you can still only enter one image in round 2, so if you enter in both rounds you've got two images up for consideration. If you have an image that you're not quite happy with and are hoping to get a better one, enter the one you have in round 1. If you then get a better image and round 1 hasn't closed you can then replace it and try for an even better one for round 2 BUT if you don't get a better image your "less than perfect" one is in already rather than you missing the close of round 2 and having no image in. thanks Stubbsy...that's what I thought.
personally, I'm not sure why I would want to post a photo I'm not quite happy with, just so I make it into round one....especially considering the calibre of entries (from previous challenges). I don't think a "so-so" photo would cut it ! I will most certainly be trying my best to get 2 images to enter, but if I don't get one I'm happy with before the end of round one, I'll be happy to miss out. JMO Dave

So that if you forget to enter your best image you at least have an entry in...
Basically if you have an image and you think "Hmm... but I think I can do better over the next few days" you should just enter it and change it later! New page

[quote="MHD"]So that if you forget to enter your best image you at least have an entry in...
quote] even if I think it's not worthy ? I agree that everyone's interpretation of an image will vary and some may think it's fantastic - but I still think the entrant should feel good about the image.....not enter just for the chance to win a D70s. I want to see everyone's BEST work being submitted, not just any submissions that may win them a prize.....That, to me, IS the challenge. The prizes are just the cream on top ! Dave

I have an entry in now that I'm VERY happy with. I also have a concept for a different entry. If that concept works, is better than my placeholder and is done by the end of this round I'll replace the placeholder. Next round my current placeholder will go in unless I have something even better (or I didn't get my concept entry in by close of round 1).
I agree - putting in a poor entry as a place holder is pointless. Peter

I'm going to apply the KISS principle this time round, 'Keep It Simple Stupid' for those who don't know what the KISS principle is.

Bumpty Bump.
Anyone suffering a mental blank for a good concept ? I've been struggling to get the creative juices flowing on this one...
Alpha, are you in the states at the moment? If so I can't imagine that you are having trouble capturing something uniquely "movement" themed. Matt
Believe it or not I am struggling.. I had a few good chances tonight, but the weather was right against me... light rain but the wind was blowing it in from all angles... a lot of my gear got wetter then I'd like...

It's like The Beatles in Help, but the other way around. Creative juices flowing could be considered movement. Steve.

A question - the rules state that the pic must be taken with a dslr .......... can I enter a "point and shoot" camera pic just for the practice (even if it doesn't count in the final results)? (like I'm going to come anywhere anyway........ )
Kinetic. NO unless you have a point and shoot Single Lens Reflex digital Peter

He's right only SLR photo's can enter as per the rules, however that doesn't stop you from practicing... just follow the Challenge's theme and post you photos for review and critque You won't win a prize but you'll get valuable feedback.
Time for an early morning Wednesday BUMP!

I reckon that like all the greats, unrewarded during their lifetimes Leigh, your work will recognised and treasured post-humously. Well Matt, that's a happy thought!!! Matt
I'm in and I can't believe I did it with a bit of time to spare usually it is a mad scramble on the last day
So Leigh you have no worries now, there will be someone below you on the results list. Cheers, Terry "Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gismos. Photography is about photographers. Hey Guys, I had a brief look through the entry rules, is there a size that the images should be?
Cheers, Owen.
Any size can be submitted... the Gallery will automatically downsize for thumbnail and medium sized shots, but your original shot will also be accessible when the gallery is opened for viewing... Cheers, John
