Anyone want to meet up at Katoomba on Saturday?Hey guys. I'm heading up to Katoomba and Leura and wherever the mood takes me on Saturday, was just wondering if anyone wants to meet up for a day of shooting.
I was thinking of following the waterfall guide in this months Australian Photography as it has some great ideas for spots to go to shoot waterfalls. If anyone's interested I'll work out a schedule and post it up here. Cheers, Owen.
Don't forget the minimeet on Saturday as well.

Of course, I don't want to encourage anyone away from that.
However it's on the other side of the city from Katoomba isn't it? Plus I have my heart set on getting to these waterfalls.
From Nowra?
It's just about on the way! g.

You'd better put that on your website Owen Steve.

Apparently there is some special copse of trees behind the Blue Mountains that is extremely rare or special or something-or-other that is also protected to such an extent that hardly anyone knows where it is. Have you found it? Steve.

The Wollemi Pines - a friend of mine has been trying to track that spot down and we visited a location that may have been it... I got pics too - a diamond patch of foliage that's greener than the surrounding gum trees and other flora.
So how'd the waterfall hunting go Owen?
Yeah I saw something on the telly about those pines and how they took cuttings and have grown more of them. You can tell how old they are by something to do with the arrangement of leaves or something like that (The only fact I remember from the show).
The waterhall hunt was a bit average actually. It absolutely poured down raining everytime I went to go somewhere. One stage there was a massive crack of thunder when I was down in the gorge, and to hear it echo would have knocked even hercules to his knees I reckon. Given that I didn't want to get my baby (the D70) wet, I gave up and just went on a bushwalk in the wet. Saw some nice scenery though. Would have loved to have some sort of housing for the camera. I actually didn't go anywhere that was in the book as I didn't get enough time, there is so much to do up there!
