Ahoy folks,

WOndering what you guys and gals think.

I'm considering purchasing a Nikkor 85mm F/1.4 second hand (excellent condition froma reputable seller) for $500 U.S. I know this lens is excellent for indoor sports and really want it. It retails for over $2000 here.

The only way I can finance my deal is to use some of my GST rebate and sell my kit lens via ebay (I should get a few hundred for it).

I'm worried about this leaving holes in my focal lengths though. I already have a 20mm F/1.8, 50mm F/1.8 and I would have a 85mm F/1.4. I think this will suffice, but curious as to what you guys reckon, because I value your knowledge.

Sorry if you find typos in this, i'm typing with a strained shoulder, balancing an ice pack and doped up on pain killers (stoopid work).

Thanks for any suggestions,

Ras.

Raskill,
I have the 85/1.4 same as Killakoala, Smac, Robw25, spada.
It's a Nikon gem. I never leave home without it. Great portrait lens! none of other beat it yet! Low light, very nice bokeh which it produced. It's solid built with metal jacket

Used lens at that price is OK, perhaps with shipping to be added.
not cheap and not expensive, brand new import is over $1300.00
