confusion over Eye Peice Adapter for d70i remember hear a while ago about another eye piece adaptor for d2 series which could be use on the d70 via an adaptor. what got me confused was that did it in fact magify the entire viewing area or did it magify the central area of the viewfinder, kinda like the f5 replacement action view finder.
Re: confusion over Eye Peice Adapter for d70
3 parts are in that game and they cost less than $200.00 so I ditched it and didn't want to bring in. Here's the quote from the seller in Japan: DK-17M $80.00 for the D2 series Other two parts required to make it works on the D70 eyepiece $49.00 Freight $22.00 O/S Bank fees $12.00 It's the magnify viewfinder to make it bigger, clearer, and better than the tiny D70/ D100 or D50. I love the DK-17M on my D2 bodies. Birddog114

Ok, It magnifies the whole viewfinder and similar to a F5 viewfinder when you look thru it.

The DK-17M will magnify your viewfinder without the loss of camera information/setting in the viewfinder.
You will find that the DK-17M will vignette on an F5 camera but not a D2 series camera. This is with the DK-2 eyecup attached.
Unless, you get the D2x and the DK-17M! I didn't see the cost works out the way which our members like. Birddog114

redline, I wonder how can people lost the eyepiece? I never loose the eyepiece of my F5 and the D2 bodies. Yes, I lost the rubber eyecup once, but now I superglued the rubber eyecup on the DK-17M. So, no more worry. Birddog114

i dunno Birddog, but i had my f5 over my shoulder for most of the day at oran park. by the endof the day. the screw-in had disaapeared.
same as last time i was in the city with the f5 over the shoulder it must have unscrew it self and wondered away. probaby better idea is the have the camera in a bag instead. Life's pretty straight without drifting

It takes alot of rotations before the eyecap on the F5 to come loose.
I guess you were very unlucky. I myself have never had an issue with any of my cameras. In fact, on the D2X you cannot uncrew the eyecap unless the eyecap protector shutter is down.
