Noise Reduction Software....Is there any particular Noise Reduction Software which is head and shoulders above the others or perhaps particularly tuned to Nikon?
A trial version might be useful to evaluate prior to buying. Any settings that you find works particularly well for most scenarios or do you constantly need to adjust the settings? Any recommendations? Regards Tony All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
When I used to have the E-300 olympus it having a very noisy kodak sensor I used to use neat image I used a few others before neat image with limited succes but neat image imho is head and shoulders above the rest.
I hope this helps! Are we there yet?
Tony
I don't actually use any denoise software, but the one that seems to get the best rap is Neat Image. Do a search here and you'll find some reports on it. One example is this thread. Noise Ninja is another popular program Peter

I swear by Neat Image for Noise Reduction. I've used both packages and I have found that Neat Image worked the best for me.
Also one thing that I did notice when using Noise Ninja and might have just been the version is when selecting areas for noise reduction (eg. subject or background) and then processing that area the area would be reduced in noise but the area not selected would have artifacts introduced. Hence why I started using Neat Image. I'll have to revist both again soon. Darryl (aka Kipper)

I have tried quite a lot of these including noise ninja and neatg image and performed side by side tests
Neat Image stands out head and shoulders above everything I have tried. Comes with a stand alone program and a photoshop plugin. I have stopped looking for a better program now because it just works. Steve
G'day Tony,
I've been using Neat Image on high ISO shots, found it very powerful and convenient using it within feather selections with Photoshop, haven't noticed and ill effect other than the expected slight loss of fine detail in the treated areas. Works well within Photoshop. Haven't worked out how to get the best performance from it yet Just need to spend more time playing with it I suppose, but it's able to treat the different noise spectrums (like the fine, high frequency noise Vs larger low frequency noise) independantly and can use profiles for specific cameras if you wish (which you can either make yourself with your camera or download from their site). Seems quite spiffy Aka Andrew
i used noise ninja, but i used profiles from a d100( are there files profiles for d70 now?) it seems to "blur" out the noise. kinda makes thing loses sharpeness as well. works well for the sony though.
