Big Storm Heading Sydney Way ( Maybe ? )Hello all,
Big storm hit Melbourne tonight, just thought I would share some lightning Pics I shot with my new Stubby 50mm 1.8 Just 2 ( In my gallery ) Yes I know, It would have been great if the Tree wasn't there. Oh well, at least I got something. Hope you enjoy. Regards, Mic. Click onto my Web Site at the bottom of this post ( should work ? )
Nice shots mate
I see what you meen about the tree Another lightning lover I see!!!! I have the 50mm 1.8 for the same reason just no lightning up here to try it out on. But that could all change come tonight going off this front that’s come in from the West Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism<<
Good shots mic.
As a matter of interest, what lens did you use for the moon shot? Greg - - - - D200 etc

That’s why I’ve chosen the 50mm I’ve used an older version of the lens for lighting & the quicker aperture helps with lightning that’s a fare way off. When you have it right in front of you F8 is a good place to start so you don’t blow out the bolt in the image. Cheers Ray >> All of us could take a lesson from the weather. To Greg B,
Thanks, It was actually a Telescope ( 200mm Reflector ) I just put the kit lens onto the eyepiece and took a few in RAW ( not in the RAW ) just RAW fromat. I was very happy with it, I sharpened it up a fair bit. Thanks, Mic.
To Paul,
It was just that I got the Lens recently. I had it at F16 to allow me to keep it open longer to catch some bolts. But I'll remember the F8, Thanks Raydar.
It is fantastic mic, very good work indeed. So what would be the equivalent of a 200mm telescope when considering camera lenses? Greg - - - - D200 etc

Re: Big Storm Heading Sydney Way ( Maybe ? )
Mic, I don't mind the tree but the power lines are very distracting. I have had good success cloning out power lines using the spot healing brush in Photoshop Elements 3. They dissapear without a trace in most cases. Cheers Dean I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
