lowepro Slingshot 200AW

Postby rookie2 on Sun Nov 06, 2005 12:27 am

Anyone know if this is available in Oz yet - I've doen some research on it (via dpreview) and its the bag I need. Keen to hear if anyone has it available in Oz.
gotta admire the amount of work Lowepro put into their research on this sort of stuff..its just the bag I'v been looking for since living in SE Asia for a year and using my daughters Roxy sling bag as my camera bag - perfect for bike travel and easy access. the Slingshot is way more advanced from this so keen to get hold of one.
cheers

Apparently Australia misses out on this convenient bag.

Buy it from the UK and you would pay £69 plus postage but you can get it from NZ for around $120NZ plus postage

I got mine last week. It's a great bag that meets all my needs. If you have large zoom lens then this bag is NOT for you. It is meant for people who need a walk around bag with one or two smaller lenses. When I get a chance I will put up a full review.

I'm sure he meant: the 70-200VR/ 80-200 (AF/AF-S/AF-D) or 300/ 2.8 VR/ 200-400VR/ 500 AF-S

slingshot bag

Postby rookie2 on Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:33 am

none of those are in my kit..and wont be for a while.
Still I'll check their dimensions to see how much space this bag has...just in case I get lucky some day.

The kit lens and the 70-300g and 501.4 will fit in the bag quite nicely. You can also add in flash unit in the future or another two smaller lenses, like a 24-120 size quite comfortably.

Also as a bit of a bonus, there is a small compartment at the top of the bag which can hold two soft drink cans or a small snack.

You made a great choice and won't be disappointed.

two cans of soft drink

Postby rookie2 on Mon Nov 07, 2005 11:56 pm

if it can keep the cans cold they definitely wont be soft drink
Why?
Photography = time by self (you're so embarrassing dad) = peace & quiet 'me time' = creative juices = lots of energy used = thirsty = relaxing refreshing liquid not of the cola kind

thanks for the info keno

hey rookie2

no probs, yeah never though about using it for "liquid not of the cola kind" but now you mention it.

Forgot to mention, there are a couple of other small pouches, one is located at the front of the bag. This has a number of different of compartments in it but none of them are zippable. They are designed to hold camera accessories like batteries, cables.

There is another pouch located in the bag itself which is designed to hold extra memory cards and thats it, nothing else will fit.

I'm off to see if I can fit a longneck and stubby holder in the bag

Lowepro might even put out a long lens version down the line that would also double as a long neck holder - ....and so the dreaming continues.
I'm ordering one tomorrow -probably from NZ - save a few bucks but will take a wee bet longer. Sounds like it will be worth the wait, hey?
Happy snapping and thanks for the first hand info.
have a cold one for me.
cheers
