Good source for Ilford Galerie paper

Postby Hlop on Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:33 am

I've done some search and research and found AIM Digital imaging prices aren't bad at all:
Ilford A4 Classic Pearl IGCPP9 25 Sheet Paper Pack $26.55
Ilford A4 Classic Pearl IGCPP9 100 Sheet Paper Pack $87.30

But as greed is endless in human nature, I'd like to find even cheaper sources if it's possible. Is it possible? Who they are? :)

Thanks for that Mikhail, that looks an interesting site, especially their inking systems.

Mikhail, great price but they want $14.90 delivery!! Not such a bargain then. I pay $98.56 for the above 100 pack at Borge Imaging at Crows Nest

Is it pickup price? Crows Nest is just aside of my usual routes and with cost of petrol and time it will be just the same (or even more expensive if you count time) for me if I'll ride there.

If this price from Borge includes delivery, then it's a bargain

Ditto. For the price of delivery, I'll take a wander into Fletchers in the city and get to look at overpriced crap for free!

Not an option for me as well - I was in the city few months ago last time. BTW, when I was in Fletchers in Chatswood quite while ago and have bought a pack of 25 sheets, it was quite decent price - something like 28-29 bucks. Unfortunately this shop seems to be closed

Borge is a pick up price, not what I would call the cheapest price, more a fair price as a reference. Aim seem to have offices in every state, but with the one number and everyones direct line being a mobile, I think not. They don't seem to offer pick up.

Just a reference figure for your aims rather than a bargain option. For me they are ten minutes walk or 2 minutes in the car. I do hope you find a cheaper price as Illford is my favourite

Borge's = $98.56, AIM's = $102.10 (with delivery) - not too different (just $3.5). Even if I catch a bus from North Ryde to Crows Nest it'll be $7 round trip :)

Last time I looked, the paper in the '100' pack is lighter than in the '25' pack.

Gerard, I have two packs of 25 A3+ here, labelled the same, one is 280gsm the other 290gsm. The 100 pack of A4 is 280gsm.

Yes, and the 25 pack is 290g. Does it really matter? I don't know, but it'd be nice to have consistency.

I suppose it's something related to technology changes. I still have old pack of Classic Pearl, 25 sheets and it's 240 g/m2

I'm just wondering if I have to rebuild profile for the same type of paper if it's heavier?

Mikhail, I am guessing but with a pearl paper which doesn't have high absorbancy like a matt paper, the weight change probably only affects the paper handling components of the printer.

I was hoping someone would have responded to your thread by now telling us where is the cheapest in aus to buy this paper.

You, probably, won't believe me but I had the same hope :) :) :)

I'll try to investigate further today if I'll have some time but it seems to be that AIM is cheapest with delievery and Borge is cheapest for pickup meantime.

I'll let you know if I'll find anything else

Unfortunately, I was unable to find Ilford Galerie of any type cheaper than we already found. So, I'm going to order pack of 100 Classic Pearl from AIM

I notice you can also get A4 Smooth Pearl from AIM in a 350 pack for $259 which is a good discount, but also a big outlay (100 sheets is $87.30).

I dropped into Borge today to pick up some Ilford Pearl but they didn't have any in stock  They said they hadn't had any for a while, something about an Ilford company buyout/restructure and all the supplies have dried up...

Anyone know of another Sydney supplier? The closest shopfront I can find with google is Woollongong. The only other alternative appears to be online..

not sure if a shopfront is all that important right about now John.
I ordered mine from AIM on the net and had it in a day or Two.

If it is A4 you are after, and are stuck, I bought one of those A4 bulk packs, 350? sheets (cant remember) but if you had something to put it in I could peddle you some pro rata. IE whatever number of sheets you needed @ the price I paid per sheet. So long as you dont want all of it!! and you would need to come to ermington to get it. Not far from beecroft.
I only got mine a month ago and figured the bulk pack would probably last me a lifetime

Ozczeco: Thanks I'll give them a call tomorrow, I have to go into the city on friday so that would be handy.

Steve: Thanks as well, but I just got one of Birdy's Epson 1290s and want A3+ paper as well as A4.

I'm a bit dissapointed that there is no bulk pack for A3 or A3+. AIM / ausmedia / scannerplace:

I enquired about the price if I bought 10 packs of 25 sheets, and it would only be a $2 discount per pack :(

Also a bit dissapointed by their email communication. They claim 1 hour in business times. I've sent 3 emails to them that have been unanswered. Phone service was alright though.

I think I phoned em with an enquiry once cos the email thingy seemed non existent, although having ordered online I got the stuff in 2-3 days

I imagine that bulk a3+ would not be asked for that often. the bulk A4 box is very nondescript. but the a3+ 25 pack has writing etc on it. pribably costs them way more to buy like that.

I wonder if we would be able to source it direct from ilford in the UK, assuming sufficient quantities being purchased. ( Birdy?)

this community is growing at a rate at which reasonable quantities of ilford pearl could reasonably be consumed by members.

wonder if they would talk to our friendly flyboy patron?
It may turn out that they have exclusive deals with AIM and others.

I tried but there's nothing helps, even I asked them give me a dealership, they gave me the too high target of sales figure (volume) which I have to commit.
Even, if I get their dealership, prices of the first three lot of orders are higher than the price of their dealer's shops.

Finally, they would like to maintain their existing dealership's relation.

You know how the Aussie runs their business aren't you?

what can I say, another case of aussie consumers being rogered.

If you could buy consumer quantities O/S shipping would be a killer
