Buying a Nikon DSLR

Hello all, I have been using a digital camera for about a year now (Fujifilm FinePix S5000) and this was my first camera, over the time of using that and being a member of a few forums online and making some good friends who have a great knowledge in photography I have decided I would like to step up and move into the DSLR ring, I have made my decsion to get a Nikon D70 (or D100 if money allows). Now the problem is I am a 14 y/o High School student with no income, well I do a little bit of computer work for people for some pocket money, so what I am after is the cheapest Nikon D70 (or D100), but I need a lense. I saw these on ebay yesterday but I am not sure on their legitimacy. Has any one had experince with the ebay seller 'onlinedigitalshop'? I was interested in the following 'packages':
Nikon D100 Digital SLR + 2 Lenses + 2 GB + AU WARRANTY
Nikon D70 Digital SLR + 2 LENSES + 2 GB + AUS WARRANTY
Nikon D70 + TWO NIKKOR Lenses + 1 GB + AU WARRANTY
If you think these are a little dodgy and/or know where where I can find better/cheaper packages. Also if any one knows where a youn'g like my self can find a half descen paying job please let me know.

Do a quick browse around the forums, there is this fellow in here who will out do anyone (I know of) on price and quality... There are some threads in Bargians specifically for this person..

Once you go d70 you will never look back... I had a high end Nikon point and shoot (cp5400) and the d70 is so much better its not funny!

I'd personally suggest you go the D70 route rather than the D100 route. I have a friend who needed help learning his new digi and it happened to be a D100 and playing with the thing, I've found the D70 to be far more versatile with a much better layout in buttons than the D100 has... the only thing I find the D70 lacks is a vertical grip, but that appears to be changing soon as other companies are working on one.

It's already mostly been said... have a browse through the bargains threads and you'll find discussion of some good deals.

I'd definitely recommend the d70 over the d100 (but then you are in a d70 forum here). The d100 had a couple of features over the d70 and visa versa... just a matter of what you think is critical to you but they will both serve very well.

Work out the value of any 'package deal' carefully... if you disect the prices you'll often find them not so great and also provide you with items you'll only throw away or upgrade very soon. The tripods in particular are usually rubbish and the additional lens can often be acquired quite cheaply as a separate purchase.

Don't be scared off by talk of really expensive glass in here... you don't have to spend your days lusting after the 200-400VR or engineering masterpieces on three legs to get happy results from your camera. You can go a long way with the basic kit and a moderate sized (1Gb) CF card.

Finally... feel free to ask any questions here before spending your hard earned cash... plenty of others have done just that.

Hello all, you have all given me great information to think about, I went to Hardly Normal after school today and had a hand on look at the D70, and I am almost assured that I well get my money back from the camera just for what I will learn =P it was really sufistocated (to me at least). But other than that I loved the fell of the camera, it wasn't too heavy and best of all, it didn't fell like it'd fall to peiced in my hand like the Canon Rebel (EOS 300D) did, I also had a quick look at the D100 and the only difference I would see was the small button layout changes. Does any one have a Top Res/Quality picture taken with a D70 with NO post processing up on the net some where so I can see the image quality, I only saw what you see on the lcd.

Thanks for the welcome MATT, and I only fond you yesterday and I am not to sure how, but I am glad I did.

Birddog thanks for the offer but I have great doubts I could get down there . ahh well, also will the 'stock' lense(s) take good Landscape and Macro shots? If you have time could you check out my photoblog/photo gallery and let me know if Id have problems shooting any of the shots because most of them are what I like doing best.
