Nikon gear saleHi Guys,
Unfortunately the time has come where I can no longer hold off and will have to sell everything. This unfortunate outcome has arrived for a variety of reasons including my health, which has severely restricted both my abilities to be able to wander and take the photos that were originally intended, and even the inclination to do so. In addition other issues have developed, including my poor wife who has had to give up work for some time due to health issues. Those who I met at Jenolan may understand my own health problems which have continued unabated since February. Guys, this is certainly not a call for sympathy, I don't expect or ask for it, it is simply a fact of life. At least I am on the right side of the turf, and I will endeavor to keep it that way. Please note that I am not expecting to pass to that great photography studio in the sky anytime soon and in fact fully intend to be here for the next 30 or so years. Just about all my gear has been purchased from Birdy, with the exception of the D70 and 1 lens and the tripod and monopod, so you will have a good idea what I paid for them. All the gear is in as new condition, and in fact some of the lens' have not even been used. I will post a complete list of the gear shortly, (as soon as I wipe away the tears) but include the D70, 70-200VR, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4 and the 105mm macro. also included is the Nikon 12-24, 1.7tc, 24-120VR, 28mm 2.8, several bags including the Lowepro backpacker, a monopod and tripod , cleaning gear and excellent filters also purchased from Birdy. There is also the SB800 , which has never really been used. If Birdy is watching, sorry mate after such excellent deals Regards to all Nige
I'm sorry to hear about your forced situation
you have a heap of great stuff, maybe you should consider auctioning it off there wil be an absolute catfight over gear on this forum, i for one want the 85mm 1.4
Not good Nige! Really bad news, but at least - as you say - you're still on the right side of the ledger
I think I speak for all of us aware of your organisation of the Jenolan Caves meet that we really appreciate your input into this community. All of our best wishes, thoughts and prayers are with you - do not be a stranger! *** When getting there is half the fun! ***

Nigel,
I think I speak for all here when I say that we're sorry to hear of your continued health issues, and our disappointment that you won't be able to continue enjoying this love of photography that we share. That yu will also be needing to curtail other activities is also tragic beyond description, and we all feelk for you. Might I suggest that, as you're unable to enjoy this pasttime physically, you stop by here as frequently as you wish and try to enjoy what we share at least vicariously. You will always be welcome, and we thank you for all of your contributions thus far. g.

Hi Nigel.
It saddens me greatly when someone finds themselves unable to pursue their passion for reasons such as this. I hope a new passion takes its place very soon and that you drop by here and visit us often. Simon

Hi Nigels,
we never met, we never talked. Your engagement in enabling the Jenolan Cave meet was great. What a pitty I couldn't make it. From time to time I was wondering how I would deal if something happened to my health that would prevent me from continuing to take photos, experiment with the gear and be out and about discovering things. I have now idea how I would go. I'm glad to hear that you are not on the departure patch. So please stay in touch and give us your company and experience. Best regards, Christian
Hi Nigels,Hi Nigels,

Nigel
Sad news, but not completely unexpected for you I guess. It was an honour to meet when you organised the Jenolan outing and a pleasure to have been afforded the opportunity to visit those amazing caves that you know and love so well. I suggest you get some prices up here as soon as you are able in order to generate some real interest from purchasers of your little treasure trove of quality gear. Peter

Hi Nigel
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Any chance that if you sell all of your stuff for a good price you could buy a small point and shoot, just to keep the images happening? Some of the now available smaller cameras take brilliant pics....and it would keep you on the forum. Just a thought. Good luck, whatever happens. Regards

Hope you stay on the right side of the turf for many years to come, it's always hard to part with a hobby or ones prizes toys, especially when it's not of your own choice. As has been said, hopefully can you enjoy what others have to share here.
Nigel,
I was unable to come to the Jenolan Caves expedition but I greatly enjoyed everyone's pics and belatedly thank you very much for facilitating that visit. I wish you the best with your health and I hope that you do decide to loiter and participate here regardless of your camera ownership status. Your comments and perspective will always be welcome. Best wishes. Rae
. All the gear and no idea. PPOK / Others' pics in my threads OK
Having personally couriered 2 of those lenses to you and having met you at Jenolan, I find it very sad that you feel compelled to give up your photographic passion.
Very sad mate... I hope that your health improves... While posting For Sale notices on this forum may achieve the prices that you need, can I suggest that you auction them on e-Bay to maximise your return... You can always link members to the auctions where relevant... Good Luck & Good Health!!! Cheers, John

wow Nigel,
This is very sad news. I trust that your health will imporve over time. It was a delight to meet you at the caves, and again, thankyou for orgaising such a sensational outing. As others have already said keep smiling, don't be a stranger. Your contributions on this forum have earnt you a great deal of respect. We look forward to more discussions with you. Craig
Hi Guys,
Quite frankly I am overwhelmed with your kind thoughts and best wishes. I really cannot believe, in fact words fail me really, that this wonderful community, the DSLRUSERS, can be so much like a family. Thanks heaps guys and guyettes, it is appreciated more than you can know. Yes I will be purchasing a point and shoot, hopefully off Birdy and will most certainly continue to be involved with the forum. Hopefully in the future, I may again be able to take up my beloved photography again. I am really in a quandry though, this is not an excercise in an attempt to make a profit on the excellent prices that Birdy gave me, and of course gives everyone on the forum. In this respect I would feel like a proper bastard if I requested prices that were simply too high or over the price that Birdy offers or Birdy gave me. Although I like to make money on any dealings I do, I would not consider doing it on this ocassion, to you guys, or on this forum. My daughter is coming to stay with me for a few days, so will be unable to do much in the way of establishing prices etc. Please leave until Monday at which time I will have more time to think about it. By the way, in parliament today, the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust was transferred to the Dept. of Environment and Conservation under the NPWS. The actual transfer may not take place for several months, which means we may be able to take advantage of another photo opportunity at Jenolan Caves and Wombeyan Caves, where they have a brilliant camping ground. More on this later, I will see when the transfer will take place and get back to you. Kindest regards to everyone. Nige
Nigel - look forward to seeing some more develop on this front, would love to visit Wombeyan on a similar basis to our Jenolan visit Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help out. While on that topic, any outcomes from the pics we took at Jenolan? I know last time we 'spoke' you were still going through them. Pleased to see you are intending to get a P&S and at least stay in contact - this place is good for the soul (not so good for the bank balance, but good for the soul nonetheless ). Keep well *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Nigel,
I'm so so sorry to hear your news and can only echo what has been said! I hope you can still visit the forum and have some input into what happens here!! Cheers matey, Geoff
