Kenko 1.4 X TC or 2 X ?

Postby mic on Fri Dec 10, 2004 4:39 pm

I am thinking of getting one of these little suckers for my Arsenal.
Mainly for my Nikon 180 F 2.8 to give it a bit more reach.

On E-bay under Digital Rev ( Any other contacts ) ?

&

Would the 2X really give me bad light drop off ( is it 2 stops ? ) and effect sharpness ?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mic.

If you do a worldwide search on eBay you'll find quite a few Kenko TCs for sale, mainly from HK. Usually around the same price. DigitalRev only have the grey colour in stock (I checked), but Keaphoto have the black 1.4 for about $215.00AUS. Keaphoto seems to have better feedback too.

Getting the TC mainly to extend the reach of my 80-200ED, but I'm hoping it will also work on the Sigma 70-300APO 2, can't see any reason why it won't.

The 2x's really degrade the image quality, drop 2 stops, and take out a lot of light. I have a Canon 2x but rarely use it, but am quite happy to use my 1.4x. I'd recommend the 1.4x but if you need more reach, get a longer lens.

Thanks WereWolf,

I was wondering if I could only get Grey colour. The black will suit everything better I think.

Thanks Petal666,

I thought the 2X would, nice to know I'm on the right track.

Thanks,
