Underwater housings ..

Postby DionM on Sat Nov 05, 2005 11:31 pm

I might have an opporunity to take some u/water shots.

I have looked around at prices of u/water housings ... certainly not worth it give the limited use I will get out of it.

So does anyone know of any good cheap u/water housing ideas? Double snap-lock baggies, maybe? :D

Not for my 20D, but my Powershot G2 (digital PnS).

I'll probably get a disposable u/water camera and scan the negs, but am open to creative or proven ideas 8)

Now is about the time I wish I had bought one of those Olympus Mjus that came with the housing free a while ago, I had been seriously thinking about one as a "pocket" camera and the housing was a bonus. :?

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

Have you had a look at Ewa-Marine range?
They make D-CG1 for Canon G2. About $240.
You can also get Aquapac Waterproof bags for about $35-45.

Cheers.

Thanks Flyer.

I got an Aquapac from Johnny Appleseed. Thanks for the heads up, didn't know they had that sort of stuff! :)

I bought the EWA marine bag for my Nikon 5700
Never used it - if anyones interested in a brand new bag let me know

I ended up buying the Olympus MJU 500 and corresponding housing
It makes a fun little point and shoot and a relatively cheap way to go underwater

Weird sensation the first time I entered the crashing surf zone with it
But it stood up - except 1/2 way through fogging on the lens port :o
Not a leak - just condensation - which is apparently a big problem with these sorts of housings - hopefully i can sort that out next time

One thing for sure though - its a buzz shooting in the water :D
