G'Day from new D70 user in Melbourne

Postby ajax on Sat Dec 11, 2004 11:16 am

G'day all,

I had posted it in Melbourne group earlier. I am trekking on the D70 learning curve.

Wow ! Really a warm welcome. Thanks guys. You'r right BBJ whichever state we come from - one thing is common D70. To answer fozzie's question, the final price after cashback A$1710 camera + 18-70 lens.

Also re the jd-online shop on ebay -- he operates from Glenhuntley, Vic. If you drop him a line he'll give you his phone#, address everything. Unfortunately I am not sure I can display it here without privacy etc. violation. But he very promptly returned my email. He's happy for local pickup, as I'am nervous to deposit money and wait, I rather prefer hand in the cash and get the goods.

I know I sb6xx or 8xx is bet mate -- but Santa has gone! I have an perfectly working Yashica CS201. I dont know the trigger voltage. Can I use it with D70 or will it fry the D70 ?

once again thanks for the welcome guys.

Ajax,

Welcome.

Thanx for not posting the jd-online address; your respect for their privacy is appreciated.

Regarding the trigger voltage of the Yashica, do you have a DMM? If so, just charge the Yashica up, place the DMM's probes onto the contacts, and observe the reading.

Good price on your camera; now show us what you can do with it. :)

Enjoy.

Ajax,

Sorry. A DMM is a Digital Multi Meter. Most people in photographic stores these days would have the foggiest idea about trigger voltages or DMMs. Camera Exchange in the city or one of the Vanbar stores would be the only ones I'd try, but you'd be better off wandering in to a Tricky Dickies or Jaycar.

A small DMM costs about $10 or $20 and would do the job, but the staff in one of these stores might be able to give you a reading on the spot anyway, using the in-store DMM that they would invariably have.

Ajax,
You will find all welcome here even if the "state" is only one of mind or many miles away, United States here
I often think I am in an altered state and I know I'm in the US because the only time I here G'Day and mate are here  .
I think I may be spending too much time here I said G'Day rather then Good Morning to a coworker the other day and they looked at me like I had a Foster's oil can for breakfast

Welcome to another Melbourne member.

You might want to look here

http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

for info on your flash question. You need to be careful.

"Mike from Sweden" reckons the voltage on your flash is 11.9v.

stark,

thanks mate. I should have guessed, pobably too excited with Sanata's early gift -- (a bit difficult to convince SWMBO ). Greg thanks for the site, I'll take it with pinch of salt as u suggested. I'll also try to get a DMM :) on weekend n try.

goorich62, u r right...everything is state of mind...miles don't matter. I would prefer Foster anytime (day or night) than "buddy".

cheers guys,
