Anyone going to the IR Protest tomorrow?

I'll be there at Martin Place with my trusty ole D70.. Hopefully I'll get a few shots of it while I join in. 8)

I think I'd rather be at work than listen to an endless supply of whingeing Union hacks...

And I can certainly think of better ways to spend your holidays

Well, some of US may actually enjoy standing up for something we believe in Leek.

But this Forum is not the place to be discussing IR reform..

But I would LOVE to see a pic of Little Johnny taking the IR legislation where the sun dont shine :D :D

Actually, I didn't mean for this thread to be a politically fueled one.. I was thinking more about the photo opportunity with a small hint of standing up for my rights. I'm more looking forward to the potential photo opportunity though

How do people know that you're on their side?
They may think you work for Howard, and they don't want their pics go into the ASIO or Federal Police filing cabinet for them to use those later!

Geoff, I had intended to head into the city tomorrow, maybe I'll pack my camera gear and see how things go.

Just stand with the media guys, and the police will look out for you - instead of mistaking you for one that requires bashing with their baton. ;)

You should be pretty safe. It's in the city, not Macquarie Fields. :)

Why are they protesting Infra-Red? ;)

I might be being naive, but I own a small business with 3 employees and they recently approached me about these proposed IR changes. The negotiations went something like this:

Them: What's the story with these proposed IR laws?

Me: Well in a nutshell, if I want to be a prick and try and screw you on wages and conditions, I can probably get away with it. However, if I do that, you'll get the shits and quit...

Them: Yeah, probably

Me: The new laws only give me the right to be a bastard, I'm not forced to be a bastard, so how about we leave things the way they are now.

Them: OK

Negotiations over...

I think it's to protect us from the few people that want to be bastards :)

I'm more concerned about the prospect of looking for a job and the job ends up going to the lowest bidder in terms of what you'll do without in order to get the job. No protections will be available to the job seeker.

This is getting a little political but if you want to you can "Sponsor" someone from Overseas to come here and work for a negotiated pay deal.

It sounds a bit suspect to me.

If there were no greedy bastards there would be no problems.

Shoot the greedy bastards? Oops sedition again :(

Sorry Doug

Hope the rally goes well and everone is safe.

The advertising involved in this campaign has been...... artistically licenced as far as the truth goes. I'm sure there'll be some split heads and claret around to justify the rally and gain maximum exposure..... :?:
All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
