Wet cleaning?Having never done a wet clean myself, I wonder how clean it is possible to get the sensor. Absolutely no dust visable at all? Or is that impossible??
I called in at Maxwells the other day and got my sensor cleaned. Took a test shot before I left and found a few smallish bits of dust still there. I didn't know whether to put up with it or get it recleaned.
Hi GC
if you were persistant enough, you should be able to get it spotless - but it would take a few attempts, however unless the dust bunnies are bad enough, one good clean is usually all you'll need (each time you clean the CCD). Even if you clean your sensor to perfection, it would only be a short period of time before you'd have dust on your sensor again. IMO...it's not worth worrying about that much....unless the DB's are "that bad" ! Dave

Yeah, I plan to get a rocket in the near future. I was at Maxwells anyway regarding a repair job so asked for a clean while I was there. I just assumed the sensor would be 'clean' after a clean. Where's the best place to pick up a Giotto air rocket??
I have some pure alcohol to wet clean my sensor.
it is easy just take a big slug of the alcohol the get on with the cleaning My cameras cop a beating in bad conditions so I need to be able to clean while in the field. (A) blow (B) Brush (C) Wet clean
Jack Daniels & Wild Turkey bourbon should be added into the process as prep. I don't know about the pure alcohol but pure methanol is a must & I use the Giotto Air Rocket to blow the dust inside the chamber same as the CCD and normally its cleaned, not required the wet method. Last resort is doing the wet clean with Pec*Pad and methanol. Birddog114

All the very best for your exams. Just let me know when and where in due course. BTW: Wet cleaning sounds harder than what is really is. If I can do it anybody can. fozzie

Yeah, look at all those db's drifting down the coast again.
Dug...what brush do you use? One you bought from a camera store for the job or did you prepare one yourself?
