Wacom Tablet - Recommended settings for Photoshop????I just bought a Wacom Graphire 4 and am just mastering the basics... I had a couple of questions for those who use tablets for Photoshop work...
- Do you use it in Pen or Mouse mode??? Pen mode seems awkward to me - should I persevere? - What settings do you use on the brushes pallet??? Shape dynamics --> Size Jitter??? What do the Size Jitter % and the Minimum Diameter % settings actually mean??? Are any other settings worth investigating? Cheers, John

Persevere with it John. Once you get used to it the movement of a mouse will seem terribly clumsy and awkward.
For brush settings, I can't remember off hand, on my laptop at the moment. I'll have a look and let you know, but I do know that I have it on a pressure sensor so the harder I push the more the effect. Which I like - no need to adjust the opacity slider. Matt
my ancient Wacom no longer works properly but from distant memory, size jitter is for getting a more traditional natural brush size variation as you draw and maximum size adjusts the amount of that variance up to that level.
Cant wait to upgrade to a newer faster USB model that bloody works. lol Mark Greenmantle

I find that Pen mode is heaps better than mouse mode once you get used to it.
I'm still playing with the right settings to use in Photoshop for my best needs but at the moment I have it set so that the pen pressure changes the Shape Dynamics (.... the top setting that changes brush size). Depending on what I'm doing I change the settings around I have set the bigger button on the pen to space bar (so I can hold it down and move the image around very easily in Photoshop) and the top button set to ALT (so I can ALT click). Hope that helps some. If you come up with any other/better settings be sure to post them as I'm still experimenting. After using the Graphire4 I'm seriously considering upgrading to the Intuos3 with it's more control. Don't know if they are about to bring out an Intuos4 though. Living in poverty due to my addiction to NIKON... Is there a clinic that can help me?
HAVE A LOOK AT THIS SITE........
http://www.wacom.com/tips/index.cfm?category=Photoshop The tablet and pen is a tool as the mouse, and I use Photoshop settings as I change tools and brush sizes...... but I could also be using my Tablet and pen the wrong way, but I get much better results than using a mouse ........... Cheers ....bp....

oh hell, I forgot to mention, I'm left handed so I write/draw with the wacom pen left handed and still use the mouse with the right hand. Can really speed up some functions
