What would happen if I used a non-AI lens on the D70?

You know the Ukranian Opposition leader - they suspect that this is what happened to his face, he used a non AI lens on a d70.
Or to put it another way, I don't know

As it happens, I tried exactly that over the weekend, with my 55mm Micro Nikkor from our Nokormat FTn.
Didn't fit, and didn't feel like it wanted to.

You used to be able to get lenses converted to AI; do workshops still offer this process?
What about calling a local camera workshop and asking?
And what about converting the lens to Catholicism?

Good Idea Onyx, I may get the non AI lens and swap the mount off my reversed lens.

Phillip,
With Glen's info on having the lens converted, that would be PP62 for the lens, complete with halos in lieu of boke, eh ?
