This week, the PotW is from elffinarts / Mark Robinson.

I like this shot for lots of reasons, the art direction is excellent, the model is perfect for the feel of the shot, the execution of the
photograph is spot on. We see so many great shots taken out in the
world, it is good to see one taken in the controlled environment of the
studio with a subject who is a part of the process.

Hey Mark, comgrats mate on getting POTW, this truely a nice picture and has turned out well considering your style of shooting. The Goth look sometimes in your favor as the skin tones and lighting suit this picture.

An excellent choice Greg. Congrats Mark it has a must view quality to it, good eye contact composition and colour. Reminds me of moulin rouge.

I should organise models pose for my shits (sic) more often! *cackles*

Anyway.... This model has been so much fun to work with and to top it off, she is organising a shoot for us to do for an advertising gig a new Absinthe brand requires. It is planned to have that same feel but with a green fairy taste about it.

I'll be hiring a full studio lighting rig and a D2X or better SLR for that shoot though. While I've got this shot as a meter wide print now I'll be pushing it a tad too far for billboard use (in my opinion anyway - I do know of a billboard image for a tourism agency that was shot using a D70 effectively)

eeek, I should also update my profile, my surname changed a couple of weeks ago to Greenmantle and I have yet to update info on the 25 or so forums I trawl through each week.

a few reasons - my wife and I have little to no ties to my father's side of the family and Greenmantle is a mix of old family names from both of our families generations back, plus it's the name of our favourite novel by Charles De Lint and also a celtic name given to the diety we're both spiritually "into", otherwise known as Pan. *adjusts kilt*

There's also three other Mark Robinson's working for NewLTD and the emails were driving me freakin insane (the gossip was good though - hehe) and the regular misplaced emergency calls at all hours for the other Mark Robertson - photographer used to peeve me off at 5am.

to top it off - it keeps my wife's psycho ex off her trail. next time he enters Australia I have customs agents who will a: give him the worst experience of his life, and b: call me with an alert.
