NervousOur client party is currently on, and I've been asked to take some photos for it, but then told don't take any where people don't know your taking them... anyways.. I'm up at my pc hiding as I hate dealing with clients..(not my department) let alone taking their photos...
Seems very silly..
have a few drinks mate!
yeah taking a good photo of people is a bit hard sometimes, you really have to committ and put yourself out there, entertain them a little, humour em a little, act confident like the life of the party and youll tend to get more willing subjects. A better idea, get THEM full of piss. you might even make some money out of it. http://davidsonimagery.com/
Right place, right time, where the hecks my camera ...
Craig, you will find a few who will LOVE having their photos taken, then just make sure you at least get one or two shots of everyone else. I just walk up and say I have been asked to take a photo of everyone there, now smile. It will go fine

I'm just blown away by the generosity and willingness to help that is shown on this forum. This place is awesome! By the way Craig, follow darb's advice. Have a couple of quick shots of Vodka to get the courage levels up and go and have some fun. I've done a few similar assignments and this has always worked for me. You've got the technique and talent to pull it off easily. Andrew
Thanks for the advice... (and thanks Birdy for the offer... but I'm currently on assignment). I've done ok so far.. (no vodak ... boo, but had a corona to help boost the confidence.. 5 vodaks at the Xmas party last week seemed to help, my photo's of Jimmy turned out alright..
Thanks for the encouragement.. off loaded another CF card, so ready to get back into it..
Craig - the corona must be working since you can't spell vodka (either that or there's a new drink called a vodak ).
I'd just walk up - say "hi - mind if I take your pic?" and then go snap. Make a point of showing them if they seem uncertain. My experience is most people then ask you to take another pic or two since they invariably don't like the first one. PS - after you've drunk enough coronas to need to empty your bladder twice pack you camera away somewhere safe and write yourself a note telling you where you put it. Peter

Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
Relax, shot in RAW and fix up later. Takes helps of pics, there should be numerous good ones in there somewhere.
We'll thats what I did at our institute's public forum. Boss liked the shots along with the heads of department. Just have fun alpha7
We are having a graet time ..
much too much beer, but it's all good... someone left the camera on Manual focus.. so not sure shooting in NEF will help. hehehe.. but it was funny... the lights are very preeety.
I don't usually drink.. infact... till I was 20 at my bucks I didn't dirnk..
but now.. the last few parties at work. or with work people... drunk way too m,uch.. it's not good.. and I shouldn't but I do... it's hard to focus on the scree.... on the screen..
Craig. You will feel like shit in the morning. Hope you have the day off.

If your dealing with personalitied just say your taking photos for the social pages, if they ask say your Robert Rosens personal assistant, if they cross reference you run!
Sydney is the city of vanity! You have to be confident if you show any doubt about who you are or your intent to take photos they will instantly shy away from you good interpersonal skills are needed. Usually a good rule is never approach just 1 person especially a beautiful girl, instead approach a group of people they would be more inclined if a friend/s or loved one is in the photo with them. and dress like a social photographer with gangster hatp, pink scarf and fake press passes around your neck it helps if you look like the preverbial 'paparazzi' 1 more thing always show the people the picture you have taken, they may ask to get another one done.
Yup, in bright and early... well not so bright First two in the office, with only minimal cleaning up left to do.... and plenty of pics to sort through...
It's time to go to bed yet? Birddog114

I wish.. but too much to do, just installed 2 sets of dual monitors, I have a new PC to build, 2-3 meetings, and a host of boring helpdesk type things to work through too... Hurray it's friday!

Im a 20yr old chick who really doesnt go out or do much with people I dont know but as soon as that camera is around my neck I can do crazy things! haha.. I dont even need drinks!! Hope you find a way of getting around it..
