interesting questions... would people switch to a d2h from their d70 with the price being lower now?

What would be the benefits vs disavantages?
Pros : Quicker response, stronger body, vertical grip, better image preview facility ... Cons: heavier, 4MP ... g.

looks to me that the pros outway the cons...
would you say the 4mp would be a large con? http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Con: No ITTL

That's only a preliminary list, and I'm expecting that others can and will add to it. Is the 4MP a big issue? No, not at all. It still produces great images. g.

What was the "before" US street pricing?
Would this hint at an upgrade to the D2h model at the time of release for the D2x? Remember nobody anticipated the F6 - it just came out of the blues from Nikon, in keeping with their 8 year product cycle for pro film bodies (according to Thom Hogan).
What are the circumstances necessary for justifying a D2H/D70 backup body?
To me it doesn't matter how cheap it is, would it fullfill a void in my photographic experience? I'm no pro so putting 2k into a backup body that sits there wouldn't provide me as much pleasure as putting 2k into good glass. I think that the super strong body would be nice as I wouldn't worry about bumping it every so often, but otherwise I'm thinking more along the lines of using my D70 till it croaks and replacing it with the D2X when it's price drops as a result of--lalalalaah- the circle of life/lust/poverty. One question: How much more resolution is 6mp to 4 mathmatically speaking? I know that (or atleast heard) that going from 3mp to 6 doesn't necessarily mean you're doubling in resolution. LIkewise going from 6 to 12 (d70 to d2x).
Pro or not pro are not speaking term about of the D2h or D70.
I saw many Pro use the D70 and many non pro use the D2h and the D70 users often had more nice pics than the D2h that I've seen, it's not the D2h wasn't built for the high standard and its purposes. It's extremely fast, its body more solid and balancing with the big glasses, it got all the top specs among the Nikon DSLR. The important is the guy behind the viewfinder, even with the D100, D1, D1h or D1x, they're Nikon veterans but still produced amazing photos and winning many photo competitions, again the photographers did it not the camera solely. I'm the owner of D2h, I bought it cos I like new toy and new techs. and am always want and want. Perhaps a D2x soon but can I take more nice photos than all other D70 Users? Negative? forget about the MP? The answer are all yours! Birddog114

Roughly 20% loss of pixels along each dimension. I'm used to having 6MP to play with, sometimes when I shoot with Birddog's d2h I forget I have fewer pixels to crop with. IMHO 4MP is plenty if you compose right, but if you're needing to crop, esp heavily, then that might pose problems. Of course you could simply upsize the NEF to 8MP or greater from either camera.
Birdie,
I agree completely. When I mention pro, or even semi pro, I'm talking about the circumstance where they can justify having a backup because when they are in the middle of a job, they can't afford to take the time to go and buy a new camera, they just grab the other one and take the photos. Or they may not have time to swap between wide angle zoom and telephoto so they really need two bodies. I on the other hand don't find myself in the position where I'm swapping in time constrained situations or that it would be the end of the world if my D70 stopped functioning.
