Right place, right time, where the hecks my camera ...
All that we saw was a bright flash in the sky, but from where we were it was thought to be some lightning, a few matess rocked up and told us that they saw it and it had a tail and all. Unfortunately I got zero shots even though I had the camera around my neck, takng pics at a 50th b'day!!! Cheers Nikon D80, Nikkor VR 80-400mm, Nikkor 18-135mm (kit lense), 90mm 2.8 macro, Tamron 2x AF TC

Night fire !Just had a "smaller" similar one right across Metro Adelaide. (Dec 5th 9:50 pm).
I was taking some shots of the moon and saw a good 4 seconds of it! Very freaky! And of course no pics as I had just popped an 8 second time exposure! Aghhh. It did however leave a smoke trail in the sky for a good 30 seconds afterwards. It went from East to west and a very sharp angle to the ground.
Driving down to Brissie a couple of years ago before dawn I saw a massive fireball andc watched it for quite a while as it streaked across the sky. I thought it went down north of Brissie but I learnt later that it landed in northern Victoria somewhere, that was how big and close it appeared.

Damn i thought it was Darb's mate tarring up the sky like they do the beach. Well some lucky person got it on tape and well would have made a killing on it.
Sorry Darb couldn't help myself. D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X
