New (?) D200 Brochure

Postby NikonUser on Tue Dec 06, 2005 6:52 pm

Hi there,

In my trawlings for info on the D200 I came across this 45 page PDF file that I hadn't seen posted before...

http://members.chello.se/joniz/D200.pdf

Quite an interesting read.

Some things I discovered:

Page 7 : User replaceable focusing grids without having to change the focusing screen

Page 20,21: This picture looks like it confirms the one central cross type autofocus sensor. (I hadn't heard any conformation of this before... just speculation)

Page 32: I like the look of the RGB histogram!!

Page 44: The chart shows the SC28 and sc29. Does that mean it hasn't been discontinued afterall?

RGB histogram has been around for a while now, just not on the low end models :)

Out of interest does anybody know how the D200 handles the red channel. I know that the D70 doesn't very well. I assume the D70s and the D50 are the same in that respect. Seeing as this is a different sensor I wondered if this was better or not.

Read the pdf kipper - it has a new filter to allow for better red

Ys, I have seen it and it's hosted by a guy in Sweden, not much interested, though it's better than the 24 pages version.
Both of of them won't tell you much till you have it in your hand and do a real play with it.
Any brochures are colourful and lot of promises same as cars and toys, I know someone here does brochures and they can tell us what's the otherside of marketing.

Fixed for you. Are there also approved non-Nikon batteries I wonder? ;) Anyway, Chinese reverse-engineering will get around it!

I definitely have massive lust for this camera. :( Maybe when I hand in my thesis next year...

I too am getting very lusty over this camera :)

I'd love the D2x but could never justify it's expense (unless it made my pictures good enough to make me rich  ) ... Time will tell if the MultiCAM 1000 is up to scratch.... I'm very itchy to find out!!! So far that's the only thing holding me back.

So far initial reports say it's closer to the D2x than it is to the D70 so that's a good sign.

Yes, of course, it's better than the D70/s coz it costs twice the D70 but it's not closer to the D2H(s) in AF anf FPS + other features, just forget or leave the D2x alone.
