I picked up a Giant Reign recently. I guess it'll have to be my early xmas present.

No money left for that elusive 80-400

I might be able to afford a Giotto Air Rocket

My fiancée and I are buying a D70s for ourselves this christmas :)

I reckon it's more fun getting presents that we can share - a couple of years ago, we bought a 76cm widescreen telly (the wonderful Metz Astral).

Still trying to decide on a whether to get a kit lens (anyone got one for sale?) or a 24-120vr ?????

otherwise the money goes into the very charitable "Jonesy needs a new go kart" appeal!
No one wants to buy me presents as they all cost to much so I have to do it myself!

I've ordered myself a C227 tripod, my old Berlebach is getting too heavy and doesn't match the KB-2 head as nicely... :)

My Christmas wish list? Triumph Rocket lll (2300cc motorcycle) - matchbox model of course...18-200 VR lens? How about a Rabbitohs premiership? How about a Rabbitohs top 10 finish? Oh well, there's always 2007...

hmmm....of course the old "lens lust" list could be reffered to, though I'd be happy with getting some spare time to actually getting out and taking some photos ! Unfortunately, not as easy as it used to be with 5 month old twins

I didn't even get time to take photos for the latest Challenge that has just ended.....where has my priorities gone ?!?

I think Rusty Crowe will fix things up for us...first a new public pool for Glenreagh, next the Rabbitohs. Come on Rusty, a Rabbitoh's dynasty is approaching, all we need is a few (10x) million... :)

I bought myself a PDA, Palm TX. It has inbuilt wifi and a great screen for slideshows. It syncs great with my desktops. Plays music and also videos too

Initailly I wanted a PDA/phone...but after some research the Palm TX was the best option for my needs.

Vince,

Too bad that Palm is dying a slow, horrid, death.

I do not recommend to any of my clients that they use a Palm, and in fact I'll be recommending to a client exactly that within the next week, and at the same recommending that they not buy from me several thousand dollars programming services.

I will be supporting their decision to go with Windows CE devices (they want both) but I want to talk them out of Palm, because it's a dead-end for their development dollars.

Well, that argument was settled many years ago, but it's closer to VHS vs Beta, which was settled even before Win vs Mac.

While it's good that it suits your needs today, what sort of future lifetime are you expecting from the device? What sort of batteries does it take, and if rechargeable, are they user replaceable, or do they, like an ipod, render the device prematurely as a paperweight once the batteries die in 18-24 months?

FWIW, Vince, we have a veritable museum of handheld devices here (early Palms, mono CE 1.0 devices ... ); I've been working with them (as a developer) for almost 10 years now, and yes, that's far longer than they've even been available in Oz.

True Gary.

I will be happy that it will last me 2-3 year. I did play with a mobile PC PDA..but did not like it. I prefer the palm much more and it syncs great with my mac lappy.

Vince

My christmas pressie to myself was an iMate JasJar - PDA + phone + built in keyboard. Runs Windows Mobile 5 and I couldn't be happier. I'm sure you'll be equally happy with your new toy and realistically you'll outgrow it before the Palm OS dies it's death.

The imate JasJar looks too high tech for me  I got a small mobile that is always with me and the PDA is just replacing my paper diary.

Touche Shutters, just purchased a TX, amazingly brilliant is the only way to describe it. Just downloaded my emails via BT and V3 Razr, syncs perfectly, wifi is quick and has no-brainer setup, and there are only about 20,000 apps still available for it.

I understand it most probably is a dying platform, but it should do me for a couple of years for now.

Have had numerous Palm devices over recent years, including brilliantly screened Clie (now extinct) range, and started off with Psion devices, which again was excellent but the platform just died.

I just couldn't stand buying another Windows product, maybe I will one day in the future when there are no alternatives.

You need to look at this product:

http://handbrake.m0k.org/

Takes a DVD and turns it into MP4, all freeware of course. Simply sync with TX and put it onto SD card and you have full screen DVD in your hand!

Well I don't think I will ask for anything for Christmas...
And wait for the stock of the D200
Then give D70 to wife and retire her little Olympus C770, the crappy thing that won't focus and takes forever to shoot. (The C770, not the D70!)

I've printed out the DPreview of the D200 and have been having a good read.
I like, I want! So I wait til funds are right and wife is REAL sick of C770 then we are all happy!

Been reading a lot on lenses too. Decisions Decisions!

tasadam,
Few dozen of good reds will plug the gap, the wife won't notice the difference of the missing reds and the D200 body.

Are you offering to buy a few dozen of my good reds for a reduction on D200? :D
I could come at that! :P
You're right, she might not notice missing reds...
How about start with a boxed Magnum of Penfolds Bin 389 vintage 1998? And a '96 Grange?? Henschke Lenswood and Mt Edelstome?
Salivating yet???
Don't know how long I can hide a D200 body though, but as soon as we can afford, I am allowed anyway - coz that means she becomes a D70 owner!

It's doable.

More tempting with nice drops. Wait till I finished building my new cellar at Boat Harbour.

Replace the D200 with D70 sticker and all will be solved.
