Photographic NYs resolutions?

Postby MHD on Mon Dec 19, 2005 9:14 am

So what are your photographic new years resoltions? What do you want to do with your Hobby next year?

Me: I need to print more photos, seeing MattK come around to the minimeets with amazing photos spectacularly presented makes me want to make more "product" instead of the images languising on my hard drive....

I want to produce either a Calendar or Momento book at the end of the year... The first only needs 12 shots, but ideally I think I could push to produce more then 12 keepers :)

My other (inforced) resolution is not to buy anything over the next 12 months :)

Same here... I plan to get a lot more prints done. Will hopefully get an album started and probably put a few in frames as well.

I also plan to get a bit more motivated. I never seem to find the time to get out and take pics. Time to get my priorities right. :D

I've got a big list of thing I want to photograph. Mainly inspired from pics I've seen here.

I too will start thinking about printing more of my images.

Next year I hope to round out my lens collection (just 1 more!) and get better at PP.

Canon 20D and a bunch of lovely L glass and a 580EX. Benro tripod. Manfrotto monopod. Lowepro and Crumpler bags. And a pair of Sigma teleconverters, and some Kenko tubes.

In 2004 - I took just under 10Gb of images.
2005 - 19.7Gb so far, and with less than 2 wks to go probably not gunna break 20Gb...

So for 2006, I vow to continue my doubling of photo storage and reach 40Gb, increasing not only volume but quality!

Print more/bigger. I won't be breaking the A4 size limit due to my printer - but I'll have to output more to 'full frame' and leave the 6x4's to the 15 cents per print consumer retail labs.

I want to sell some shots. I'd like to see some big 20" x 30" shots on the walls around the office. I'd like to get out more in the early morning to get some shots.

Also like to finally get some decorating the walls of my home.

Get closer to what, or whom? :)

I just want to get over the virus that I have had for past 4 days and get out onto the beautiful Nth Coast and start snapping away!

Also, to actually learn how to take a portrait!

Mine would be to actually start printing and framing images rather than hoarding them on my hard drives. :D

Great thread - maybe in a year's time this should be reopened and we can see how everyone went with their resolutions

I've got a bit of a list for my new year's photography resolutions:
  • Print and frame more shots (make a calendar book if there's time)
  • Expand my knowledge of photography, not just from a technical point of view but from a historical/cultural perspective
  • Continue to take photos every single day (been going for over 500 days already, ever since I got my D70 last July)
  • Continue to post a daily photo on my photolog
  • Publish a proper online portfolio
  • Get more paid jobs to help fund this hobby

I think that's about it for now :)
