Picture of the Week 27 Dec 2005The Pictures of the Week 2005 have been a great and diverse collection of photographs - there have
been the universally acknowledged, and the highly controversial, and all stops in between. The last PotW for 2005 is a macro from greencardigan (Brad). I have actually included the four shots from the thread because it was very difficult to decide between them. I finally settled on the fourth shot from the thread being the first one below, because I particuarly liked the composition with the juxtaposition of the hover fly and the flower. These would not be easy photos to get, and yet they are beautifully executed. Sharp as a tack and perfectly exposed. Fine work Brad PotW 27/12/05 The other shots from the thread Greg - - - - D200 etc

They truly are fabulous. I haven't seen the original thread, been without internet while at the beach, but let me be the first to congratulate you here Brad.
Cheers Deb "Sometimes when you are sad Poko, it's good to hug the monkey."
Excellent work, Brad! Any of those shots would be well deserved POTW.

wow, missed this thread initially.
I posted some shots of one of these yesterday but these ones make mine look ordinary and I wouldnt have even bothered to post mine!! a deserving winner Steve edit: just went and re looked at the original thread. found that I had looked at it but somehow forgot, maybe that was what made me go take pix of them yesterday. even more embarassed now!! Steve
An extremely well executed series of images. COngrats to all concerned.
And as Greg has said, the PotW has brought to the fore all manner o interesting images, and I think I speak on behalf of all of the moderatoration team to say that it's truly been a privilege, a pleasure, and a challenge to be able to select these images from those posted. Congratulations are due not just to the winners, but to all members whose work is up for selection here: you make our task all the more difficult, and that makes it even more pleasurable. g.

I was impressed by the sharpness and framing of these when I first saw them and that has not diminished on a repeated viewing. Congratulations on a well deserved selection. Peter

Brad well done, I was really impressed by this series of shots and your a deserved winner of POTW, well done and keep up the great work.
Great Choice Greg B, I'm sure you had a tough time choosing
Great work Brad - The whole series is awesome (I missed it 1st time around). But #4 stands out for me. You dont usually see a bug from a top view - unless its been preserved between glass Thats an amazing shot.
Cheers ozczecho
I saw these first time around and thought these were bloody great then, see them again and nothing's changed, that first shot is a cracker the way you've been able to compose the subjects, fantastic, and the detail and sharpness in the others is eye catching... Well deserved mate, congrats.

Macro par excellence Brad.
For one who is only starting to dabble in the dark art of macro photography, these are the sort of shots I aspire to. Brilliant work. Great selection Greg. Simon

Excellent photos and a good choice for POTW.
What i really like about the POTW is that i get to see outstanding images that i might have missed during the week, and this week is no exception. Well done. Steve.

Supoib!!!!
I can't seem to have the knack for effective macro photography. Maybe I'm too impatient, but I seem to end up just shouting at insects and bugs who refuse to stand still while I take photos of them!! Great, great shots. Something to aspire to, and I say that with hardly of my normal sarcasm
Fantastic Shots Brad. Stunning. Congrats on a well deserved POTW.
Cheers
