I am happy!Picked up the 10.5 this afternoon, did some test shots and Iam really impressed. The DXO correction is impressive at giving a rectilinear image if I want to (good for 360 panos...). Thanks Birddog (and family).
Cheers, Gerard

Indeed, and you should try holding the IR filter in front of the lens to see the sort of interesting results you can get!

Your correction techniques are fantastic Gerard! What do you use to do this? I am most impressed not ever having seen this kind of correction before. Hmm..beer. I am sitting at home now in lovely air conditioning (not our place) enjoying a lovely cool boags!! hmmmmm blisss!!

Geoff,
DXO allows for different stages in correction, from 0 to 100% and Max (that is above the 100%). This software only works with files straight out of the camera, so these were my first attempts. The flexibility seems a great asset. I do not have Capture so I do not know whether it does the same. Still 33 out west... but no more beer, got to work tomorrow. Cheers, Gerard
I hope you are now! missed out the bargain but you have the lens first!
DXO works better than NC, I confirmed. Birddog114

Gerard,
The straightening works great, and I'm sure you'll love your new toy! Looking forward to more shots, in particular ones with more distortion! (I like distortion.. )
Very impressive Gerard! I can see you'll be in a plane again soon
look forward to seeing more post with this lens. The DXO looks great but I tend to like the pics that are less than 100%, that said will be interesting to see some variations you may show us. Paul

I was thinking about it overnight... if you could use the corrections and combine several shots, think about the length of a pano you could achieve!!! Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Thanks for this. I should have a new 10.5 myself soon and also have a copy of DxO so it will be interesting to have a try. It certainly seems more versatile than NC with this lens. Peter

Thanks all for the comments.
Stubbsy, I got the Elite version because it opens D2X files..('') You also now get all the lens modules for free instead of buying every single ones you need. I was looking at the bargains section the other day and could not help but notice how long it's been since Birddog updated the price of the D2X... Plane trip is for early next year, can't wait! Cheers, Gerard
I bought the standard version when they changed the pricing to include all the modules. I figure if I ever buy a D2x I'll upgrade. Peter

Whatever Stubbsy says...he is trying to work out a way to rip off your Mercedes Benz! Keep an eye out for this guy because he comes from Newcastel! That's right ...he wouldn't know his Merlot from his Chablis! Regards
