my new camera has some marks on my images

well I just received my new d70 the other day... and I noticed some little marks in the sky some of my images so I just got home and took another photo to show you guys.





what are they and what can I do? brand new camera  PS: sorry how the image came out

Are they on the same spot in each shot? Have you tried different lenses or at least different focal lengths? Might be the sensor needs a clean

Seriously, did you get some sensor cleaning materials from Birddog when you bought the camera? If not, this might be a good time for you to consider learning how to clean your camera's sensor.

Please search the forums for the requisite threads; they will address most of your questions.

The one that won't be addressed is why did this happen on a new camera?

In all honesty, it's quite possible that the dust entered the camera while you were placing the kit lens on it. Any time you open the lens mount, you're exposing the sensor to potential dust bunnies, causing the effects that you see.

The only answer is to become comfortable with the sensor cleaning processes.

Looks like a bunch of big fat bunnies getting around on your sensor.

You could take it back for cleaning, but no point really because eventually you are going to have to learn how to deal with these yourself.

My advice is to get yourself some pec-pads and eclipse from Birddog and a Copperhill Sensorswipe online and clean it yourself. Once you have done it once or twice the whole affair becomes second nature and cleaning every other week becomes a relatively trivial procedure.

I had the same problem with my brand new D70 around the same time. Sent it back to Maxwell's who cleaned it under warranty ("first one is free")

Was pretty pissed off since my new purchase went in for repair after I'd had it less than a week.

Got it back yesterday.

Now to work out how to use it

I've had a good read of the forum items on cleaning and I'm feeling nervous already. I'm guessing next thing I need to do is order some cleaning stuff.

This camera is a bottomless money pit, but I'm hooked.

At least I'll spend less on cleaning products than I'm about to spend on tripods once I've worked out what I need!
