D70 suffering BGLODTurned the D70 on last night in preparation for a shoot I was asked to do today and was confronted with the Blinking Green Light of Death (BGLOD).
Took to Maxwell to have repaired and was told the repair time would be 4 weeks (imagine if you had a problem with your car and was told you could not use it for 4 weeks). There appears to be only one technician that is repairing their products. Will keep you updated with the progress of repairs. Cheers, Darryl. D70, kit lens, 70 - 200VR lens, 12-24 lens, SB 800, Lowe Pro Mini Trekker, Manfrotto Carbon 440 Tripod, Velbon ball head Monopod, Ikelite Underwater Housing, Ikelite 125 Strobe, 60GB X Drive Pro.
Not so much a technician but rather a contracted camera repair-person.
They usually take less time than 4 weeks. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Sorry to hear of your trouble matey, wouldn't expect it to take 4 weeks though, especially as you'd think they had this type of repair down pat now after the hassles they had over this issue... Unless that's just a standard reply to any repair job, or available of parts?
Out of curiosity, did you have any issues with the camera leading up to this? Aka Andrew
The four weeks expectation could be a holiday season thing.

Darryl, make a checkup call to Maxwell 1 day before you expect your camera to return.
Without fail, both times I've had my D70 at Maxwells, it was ready for collection 1 day after a phone call to enquire of its status. The first time it took me 6 weeks to realise it, and thus it took 6 weeks for the camera to return. The second time, 10 days.
Thanks for the offer Birddog. I have got a P&S that I am using for the moment, I know why I went DSLR after using it today (ssssshhutter lag).
Got an SMS from Maxwell this afternoon telling me that my camera needed parts and they were not in stock. Have to call them tomorrow for more information. Will keep you updated. Cheers, Darryl. Darryl, It may take a while, perhaps yours is the same case as thaddeus, took closely two months. Anytime, if you need the DSLR body, just let me know, I'll have one on standby for you. Birddog114

Mine is coming up on 7 weeks repair and still no sight of it. Not the BGLOD but an "err" in the display. They reckon the Aperture control lever was bent. All the details on that link above.
Next time I think I will send it to Camera Clinic in Melbourne. Share what you know, learn what you don't.

Just to keep you informed of the progress.
Yippie, got the email to tell me my camera is ready. Picked it up and they had cleaned all the Simpson Desert dust/sand from it, cleaned the sensor and updated the firmware as well as fixing the BGLOD. 2 weeks not to bad I guess. Cheers, Darryl. Guys,
I guess I spoke to early. Took the camera away without testing to see if it worked, big mistake. Now the camera has difficulty in taking any pics at all, when the shutter button is pressed the camera has difficulty in focusing if it will focus at all. When the camera does focus the LCD will go out and the pic will not be taken. Looks like another trip back to Maxwell. Cheers, Darryl. This makes the D200 sound even better all the time.

Good news guys.
She is all fixed now nad working as well as new. Only took 3 days for the second repair. Great service. (I still might get that D200) Cheers, Darryl.
