BonvageOk, we'll I'm about to depart for the airport. Decided on taking the Nikon 70-300G over the Sigma (think she's a bit heavier). The Compact Drive PD7X fitted nicely in it's spot. Anyway, if I can I'll post a few messages and maybe some pics while I'm over there.
Kipper,
Have a great, and a safe, trip. Enjoy yourself, and take lots and lots of piccies. See you whenyou get back, but stay in touch while you're away; I'm sure you'll find an internet cafe in france from which you can post. g.

At the airport in the departure lounge waiting for the plane to board.
Went through and got my TRS refund really quickly. Got back $250, for the D70 + 50mm 1.4 prime. Couldn't claim back on the 70-300G as the total purchase was < $300. I've got about another 30min before I board.
Kipper,
Have a safe flight and most probably here from you in 2 or 3 days. On the internet at the Airport, just can't keep away from the forum (Drug). Cheers, fozzie

Have fun kipper - hope you can cope with no forum for the duration of the flight!

Well I'm in france now at my sister's house. Finally got around to building her a new computer because her old one was crashing. Got the internet working tonight. Been taking quite a few pictures, some of them keepers. Something that I'm having difficulty with is that because it's winter and quite cold is getting the exposure correct. My eyes can see things quite clearly but trying to replicate that is hard. The sky is either over exposed and the landscapes visible or vice versa. Some help would be appreciated. I think a grad nd wouldn't go astray.
kipper,
Good to see you made it it your Sister's place in France. Working holiday I see, building a new computer. Cheers, fozzie

Hey Kipper.. you said you left behind your sigma?
Which sigma was that? How big is too big? How heavy is too heavy? Everyone else is asking the holiday questions.. i'm still caught up in lens lust.. PlatinumWeaver / Dean

Bago, I shoot in M 99 percent of the time.... only sometimes shoot in P or one of the autos to see if they help correct my incompetence
Doesnt usually make any difference so I guess Im doing somethings right I really think I need a grad nd.......if I set the exposure to suit the grass/fields the sky comes out over exposed and vice versa the grass/fields come out black. So its either a grad nd or take bracketted exposure and compose in photoshop or just one shot with adjusted brightness, contrast, levels etc and compose in photoshop
