Just picked up this news from Japan website.
http://www.nikon-image.com/jpn/products ... /index.htm
I used other method of translation but didn't go well but indicated the 28/1.4 is now officially out of production, that what I said long time ago.
B&H still have some same as other, they are NOS.
Next one will be the Nikkor 85/1.4, not on this newsletter but will be soon, I guess.

Here is another lense that will in a few years time trade on ebay for a hefty premium.

Yes, same as the 85/1.4.
I have two of the 28/1.4 (One unopened and one in my bag).

I am so jealous Birdy. This is my favourite lust. Please let me know if you hear of one for sale!

Both of them are still on B&H site, the 28/1.4 is Nikon USA stock and the 85/1.4 is in and out very often.

The 28/1.4 is US$ 1,694.95 + shipping.
It's still cheap, grab it now otherwise you'll be disappointed.

I agree. All I need is to phone a good friend with a US credit card? Australian ones don't work I have heard.
EDIT - only one dielemma. Noct 58mm 1.2 or 28mm 1.4??? I may have more use for the noct, but it is a very hard decision...

Many members here, ordered from B&H with Aussie CC, and they got their order within days.

I find it very weird that these two lenses are being withdrawn, they're classics. Maybe they're getting a re-release with AF-S?

If yes, will quality will be the same in both sides: Built and glass?
And they are very bulky (big) with AF-S motor built in at fixed 1.4.

Actually on a small prime less than 100mm, I don't think AF-S will help a lot, though the D200 and D2 series AF system will handle the AF easily.

Why on earth would you need AF-S on a prime wide angle

Heath - the only issue with using non-US credit cards on the B&H site is that the shipping address HAS to be the same as the credit card billing address... a royal pain when you are currently overseas....

also be aware that they will charge you for the item even if it goes out of stock ... they will credit you back in a couple of days though.
another funny thing is that for a first time user you have to send a photo of the c card to them so they can see it... i thought that was pretty strange but did it anyway and that was about 9 months ago and nothing untoward has happened.
B&H have a very good reputation for honesty and i have only had good experiences with them so far and have never heard a bad word about them.
I used an AMEX card .

Heath, no worries using Aussie CC, the issue I have ever had (and I have orderd several things from BH) is they went out of their way once to call me and let me know my purchase had been shipped! (A Nikon F100)
Only problem with that was it was about 3 a.m. here
