There's really no need... it seems every thread that asks of printers ends up in summary:
Buy Epson. R1800 for A3, R800 or lower for A4 dep on depth of pockets. Use Ilford Semi-gloss paper. <debate on need for profiling, how to, where and how much> <Colour management>
I've got a question.
I have short pockets and have the epson r310. Mildly happy with results and longevity of prints is not a great issue at the moment. When its time for new carts, should I just get one of these? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/CISS-System-for-Epson-Stylus-Rx510-R310-R210_W0QQitemZ6837567480QQcategoryZ105878QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or stick with origonal epson carts? ANy one used this or similar on cheaper epsons? MATT
Chi, very accurate me being one of the worst offenders
it is called building a library of information for members who are new to photo printing and color management all in the one location..... Cheers ....bp....

Do we need this? With my experiences on this forum, we had lot of links, threads and posts of one topic in one section, but members still ask the same question from time to time instead of doing the search as: - What printer? - What PSD? - What LCD? - What bag? - What laptop? - What WAP or Router? etc... & etc... And we will do the same thing if we have a new printer section. Birddog114

The answer is that the mods, even the new ones, are currently deciding on how to restructure the forum at this time.
It looks like that at the moment... we have a plan that will work. And sections like the "Computers" section will be unlocked for all members and we can start sticking things like printers in there. It is possible that we could have a "Post-processing & Printing" section where you can talk about printing and various colour issues and colour management issues with your prints in there as that'd be easier to discuss in a section designated for it. However, the question becomes how much it becomes used. It's likely that, while we suggest the R800/1800 with Ilford paper, every so often we're also going to suggest either a mid-range Canon or Epson to people who don't want to spend a lot of dough, which is the unfortunate problem that while photography may be bloody expensive, we don't always have to encourage mass spending just to get good results out with a printer. I do think one is needed, but I question if it really needs a section by itself and if it may just be included as a part of the "unlocked" Computers section when we restructure the forum. Yes, now we're waiting for the mods and the new mods
I'm sure one section as we have:: Computer Section will cover all the topics related to IT or hardware: PC, CPU, RAM, Hdd, laptop, WAP, printer, software etc.... is more than enough. I don't want so see this forum will turn into something similar to OCAU with many sections as we don't often required or needed same as creating something does not reflect into our dedication. We have had problems enough with bandwith or exccess usage, and I often get rejection at my first logon of the day, reset the unread posts counter to zero with a second logon same as phpBB database error messages from time to time. It's time for the mods and new mods to work out the efficiently ways. Birddog114

We can just streamline it further by having a section called "jumbed mess" and in that way it will encourage people to search for a particular topic.
Serious, I think there is nothing wrong with the current format so why bother fixing?
nito, I'm totally agreed and supporting your statement. Why should we bother???????????????????????????????// Birddog114
