Water Colors

What is your overall opinion of this?

I have elements I rellay like such as the different varaitions of color, the blur of the moving water, the green under the water..........but there are elements I don't like such as the dark and not so sharpnees of the rock (although I think the rock adds to the image).......the sky is dark to the right.....the oncoming wave in the far backgound (on the horizon to the left).........what is your opinion?

I think you are becoming too fussy in your old age! A classic shot of your's mate - you have a style which I really like.

You are right, the sky is a little darker on the right - It doesn't detract from the photo though. The wave you speak of I don't have a problem with either. The rock looks as it should for this style of photograph

You've captured just enough movement to create the mood so many of your shots have, and yet you have managed to keep the shape of the wave nicely.

It's a great photo LostDingo. I think your comments are valid and reflection can be very useful in improvement but as sheepie mentioned you have a wonderful image-making style and you ultimately know better than anyone what you were trying to do and what pleases your photographic senses and expected quality level.

Yes, i agree the rock sharper would have been better, but not essential, because the rock itself adds to the image in a way that makes its presence more important than whether you have achieved a certain level of sharpness. You could also argue that the slighlty brown coloured murky section of water at the bottom right corner of the image and across the frame could be cropped out too just to leave that glorious emeral gree patchjust above it but we begin to get very nitpicky

Corner sky colour and slight fringing can be easily fixed in PS as can that very small wave, you mention, on the left side horizon but overall minor points in a what is a terrific image.

Great photo LostDingo,

it does really look like it could have been done with water colours.

So the sky is a bit dark in the right corner, like sheepie said, it doesn't really detract from the photo.

Having the rock there does really give it an element of scale, without it, it would be just a few more waves. The rock looks sharp to me here, but I'm looking at the web image. From your D2X, it may not look sharp, but here again, it does add that feeling of a painting.

Radar, I agree, the rock must stay No, you are correct, there must be something in the capture or it would have just been waves and it does add scale as you say. Much appreciated

i think it's a good shot.. nice contrast of colours.. subject matter is relaxing. would make a great canvas print in a holiday home by the sea.

its great the way it is ... the slight softness of the rock fits in perfectly ... if it was tack sharp it would look out of place.

I like it how it is, but I guess we are our own toughest critics most the time. For my this shot has a lot of appeal and I think would look great blown up.

I'm with Craig, it's a great photo as it is...for me it has a surreal feel and I think if you tinker too much you'll lose that feeling.
