Bulk Ilford A3 Smooth Pearl?I've been looking at selling framed prints for a while, and find myself arriving at the do it at home option more and more.
I already have a decent matt cutter. I'm probably going to buy an Epson R1800 (~$1050 from memory?). While it'll take a while to pay the investment off, I don't think I can beat the convenience, quality and control that having a printer at home gives me. No more warped prints, or crinkles. I can print a photo and drop it straight into a frame and I don't have to make two trips to the lab and wait for days. I also haven't found any big pro labs in newcastle. So, in that train of thought, I need to track down a good source of paper. Stubbsy recommended http://www.ausmedia.com.au, and they have a bulk pack of A4 (350 sheets for $259). So I'm looking for a similar bulk affair for A3. Any one spotted one? Thoughts people? Last edited by pippin88 on Wed Jan 18, 2006 11:27 am, edited 1 time in total.

Probably Trent - I for one would be interested. Sourcing it will be the issue. As Nick says bulk A4 is available, but I've never seen bulk A3. Peter

Hi Nick, i dont print at home but had a look at a site that i have had in my favorites for ages that sell it, no big bulk lots but hey maybe work what you all need who use it and see what sort of deal they can give you.
Ilford A3 Smooth Pearl IGSPP9 25 Sheets $53.15 I have posted this link once before might be worth a look. http://www.scannerplace.com.au/ilford.htm Cheers John D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

Guys, I would suggest that one of us go to http://www.ilford.com then click on contact us to find out that Ilford's office for Australia and Asia address is:
AUSTRALIA & EAST ASIA ILFORD Imaging Asia Pacific Pty Limited Monash Corporate Centre Unit 1, 10 Duerdin Street Clayton North 3168 Victoria, Australia 03 9541 4511 Customer Service = 1300 369 456 AustraliaAsiaPacific-enquiry@ilford.com AustraliaAsiaPacific-support@ilford.com Asiailfordaus.export@ilford.com Then we could probably contact them to find out the minimum order size and pricing
Glen,
I tried but there's nothing helps, even I asked them give me a dealership, they gave me the too high target of sales figure (volume) which I have to commit. Even, if I get their dealership, prices of the first three lot of orders are higher than the price of their dealer's shops. Finally, they would like to maintain their existing dealership's relation. You know how the Aussie runs their business aren't you? Birddog114

John Scannerplace and Ausmedia are the same place - just different web addresses to get you there. Peter

Thanks mate i thought it was a dif name, seems they have a few. Anyhow hope you fella's sort it out, i have been very slack and rarely turn my printer on as always printed at lab, as they do my 20x30's which i have to pick up 2 today and a few other orders. Have thought about a printer like the Epson but i think for purpose of saleable pics to customers i should have done by the Lab and include the cost in my prices, who knows oneday i could get 1.
I just dont print much at home at all. D3,D2x,D70,18-70 kit lens,Sigma 70-200mm F2.8EX HSM,Nikon AF-I 300m F2.8, TC20E 2X

Dissapointing to hear Birddy. Should I email Scannerplace / Ausmedia and ask for a price on say 500 or 1000 sheets of A3? Or do people prefer A3+? For me, it's whatever will more closely fit a standard frame size with a ~2inch mat. Last edited by pippin88 on Wed Jan 18, 2006 11:21 am, edited 1 time in total.

I prefer A3+ and for what you're talking about I think it would also make sense to go with that. Peter

Just checked, and A3+ fits fits the image ratio (3x2) better.
Also, much of muchness WRT to standard frame sizes. A3 would fit into 16x20, A3+ into 18x24. I have a hunch that 16x20 is probably a bit easier to get hold of, but not that much to be a deciding factor. I'll email them. - Nick

The choice of paper is critical to high quality printing results. be very certain that the brand of paper you purchase does what you expect it to do before you shell out too much money for a bulk buy.

Good Point Matt. However, having seen how much you guys like this paper and the great results you get, means it's the paper I'm going to look at first. I'll give it a trial before a huge buy. I've emailed Ausmedia. - Nick

I've made enquiries previously re purchasing A3+ from Ausmedia and found that once you add the freight charge on to the price it makes it comparable to Sydney retail.
I am travelling down to Melbourne in March (by car) and would be prepared to pick up a bulk order if members are interested. Saves the $19 delivery fee on a box of 25 A3+ which is worth $59.95 Ray
I just bought a bulk box of a4 smooth pearl and 25 sheets of A3+ from Ausmedia.
I am very happy with the results obtained with my epson stylus photo 2100. I think I will be right for ages with the a4 stuff but would be interested in what we could get the A3+ stuff for Steve check out my image gallery @

Just realised, that despite their claim of within the hour email reponse during business hours, I still haven't received a response from these guys?
Shall I try again? Perhaps someone who has already purchased off them? - Nick

I recently ordered from them,
I filled the online order form in and a few days later the paper arrived. I ordered a pack of 25 A3+ and a bulk A4. not sure about the email, maybe call them?? they would appear to have good service, at least in actually providing purchased stuff on time. Steve check out my image gallery @

This thread is of great interest to me. A3+ and A4 bulk both very interesting. Shame about their attitude though, hey Birdie!
