What is everyone doing on Aust. Day - photo op wise?

Postby johndec on Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:03 pm

Just curious as to what everyone is planning to do tomorrow? Personally, I'd love to be out on Sydney harbour or dining on lobster at the Opera House forecourt, however reality is a cruel mistress

My plans probably revolve around going down to the festival at Carss Park in southern Sydney, just like last year, etc, etc. However, unlike last year, when I was a freshly minted D70 owner with only the kit lens and no idea what I was doing, I plan to approach the same old, same old from a different angle. Last year was mostly happy snaps of the family and the more obvious sights. This year I'm going to challenge myself to only take pics that wouldn't be welcome in the family snapshot album. (I think I may have been looking at too many of Leigh's photos).

Here's hoping that I can spot a cockroach climbing up the Kebab rotisserie and Humphrey B. Bear has a "wardrobe malfunction". I've been in a creative rut lately and I've given myself what I think is an interesting idea, so good or bad, I'll post the results.... PS: I'm only taking one lens (Tamron 28-75) as part of the exercise. That way I have to think a little more about what I'm doing.
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

Hi,

I'll be working, covering with the Video camera from midday for 2hrs the following;

Thursday 26th January to (privately) launch her candidacy for the Lower House in the November elections for the Vic State Government

The theme will be based around interviews of what Australia means to me. Footage wil be used with additional material to be shot later.

The D70s will be packed for a few still lshots as well.

Watching the cricket on TV.... And enjoying the fact that I do not have to work this Australia day.

I'm enjoying at Boat Harbour, perhaps will go to the beach with the cold beers in an Engel, and something mouth watering on the beach barbie.
Travelling to Barrington Tops on Friday with few other friends.
Of course there will be lot of shots on the beach.

I'm taking a trip down to Wilsons Promontory for a few days in the hopes of escaping the heat and getting some nice pics.

Well if you see a crazy woman stalking wildlife/birds with a D70 and 80-400 you'll know its me. I've never been down there before but I imagine it's going to be busy.

Yes, Nicole. I met you before, so I will say 'hi' if I see you. The place is huge though, and full of wildlife including birds which you are no doubt pleased to hear...

Have fun

Alex

Bel's brother is running with the Queens Baton Relay Olympic Torch (part of the relay) in Manly - I will be trying to get some good shots of him on his run along the beach front - VERY excited :) :) :)

Really, really sorry to hear that Laurie... Hope you make a full recovery a.s.a.p...

How on earth did you manage to get electrocuted? It must have been pretty powerful to cause that sort of damage?
Cheers, John
