Can anyone help????Hey everyone.....got a set of extension tubes today and had been playing with them with my 50mm this arvo.
Went to pack up and found I couldn't detach the ring from the lens. It has a small amount of play in it but it wont budge!!! Anyone have any suggestions?? I hope I haven't stuffed the lens!! I have given you a couple of pics to show you below Thanks everyone Joel
This might be obvious.... but are you pressing the lever on the extention tube before trying to take it off the lens?
Sorry if that's obvious but you never know! Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com

Thanks Paul.....but there doesn't seem to be any lever. There is like a silver screw??? And Big Pix.....I tried that but no go....any other suggestions?? Thanks Joel
Nope...
Should be a small black thing sticking out on the side of the tube. You shouuld be able to slide this backwards (towards the camera if you have it attached to the camera) and this should release the locking pin that is holding the lens in place. Gimmie a few mins and I'll post a picture. The lever should be near one of the red dots to show how where to mount the lens Paul http://www.australiandigitalphotography.com

Hey guys. Thanks for the thread. I've always wondered how an extension tube could work given it had no glass in it. Looking at Paul's pic the penny dropped. It moves the #$%$#@%$ lens further out from the camera so increasing the magnifying effect. I'm a dumb arse sometimes, but please don't tell anyone

I thought they went on the front of the lens......couldnt for the life of me work out how the hell it made any difference. I might as well have held a toilet roll in front of the lens!!!! Matt
Here's a couple of photo's with the full set on to give you more of an idea....
And just an example of what you get....this was just experimentation with a sea urchin no PP.....just testing out my new toy PS: Notice the little fibre plastered to my sensor in the bottom right corner. I need a wet sensor clean like you wouldn't believe. Won't budge with a blower. Joel
