Mounting Flash Lights to TripodHi all,
What is the easiest way to mount hot shoe Speedlights on to a tripod. There must ready made kits available. Can someone point me in the right directions? PS: I am hoping to use my existing tripods and buy a few more el cheapo tripods for this, so a system that uses a tripod screw thingy would be my preference. I'm back

Flashlights like the SB800 (and I presume the SB600) come with a mounting plate which can be attached to a normal tripod.

The AS-19 stand you get with SB600 & SB800 speedlights have a screw thread that attaches readily to std tripod heads. That would be the simplest solution; but there are mini ballheads that come with a hotshoe, presumably for attaching flash units and allow a greater degree of movement/positioning.
Hi,
I have 2 SB-80DX and a sigma dg st 500 and they did not come with any mount plate thingy. I plan on getting a SB800 next week. So want to try out out some multi flash setup in my spare room, Using the SB800 as the master. I guess the sigma will just stay on the Coolpix. Hmm I can guess that this is going to end up converting my spare room to a full time studio. How much was that strobe light again? Where would I go to look for a ball mount? in ebay or BH I presume. Any idea on what its called? I'm back

as the Sb-800 comes with a pretty simple base plate...
but for other speedlights, I have heard the BOGEN Justin Clamp (175F) is sturdy enough and easily positioned. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... ype=search has it or this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... ype=search http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... ype=search how that helps. The SC-17 and SC-18 TTL flash cables have screw threads on the bottom of the speedlight connectors. That's what I use.
The AS-19 mounting plate of the SB-800 or SB-600 also has a screw thread, as is already pointed out. And my third option is my Arfa wireless flash trigger, also equiped with screw thread.
