Hello all,
I was very lucky enough to receive the X Drive Pro (model VP3310) for Christmas from my fiancee (she's the best)...anyway, I have copied a few files across to it from the CF card (RAW files)...the thing is..when I connect it to my PC via the USB port it sees the hdd etc, but when you double click on it there's nothing in the window (i.e no files or folders)...when I unplug the USB port and have a look at the xdrive on its own, the NEF files are viewable (so they are there)..the file type is FAT 32 (I'm using WINXP). The strange this is, I've been using Glen's Compact Drive with NO problems at all (it's FAT32) as well...this one has me completely stumped. The instructions are next to useless..I would appreciate help from anyone who has this drive or can suggest a way to rectify my problem. I know Vivaryeus has the exact same drive but I'm not sure if he's away at the moment?? Thanks in advance all, and one final time.. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Geoff.

Hey Geoff - wow, everyone seems to be getting nice things for xmas. Enjoy your Bel, and your X-Drive Pro.
I think the problem may be the images are hidden deep within the directory structure that the drive automatically creates.
Try this: In XP, open a folder, goto Tools menu, select Folder Options, View tab. Then select 'show hidden files and folders' option. Click OK and try to nagivate to your X-Drive drive. See if there are some new folders there. Double click on them and see if you find your NEF files inside it.

Sorry Geoff, I'm all outta ideas. Maybe... is there any possibility the Xdrive was formatted for Mac or something?!
I got a pair of socks and other mundane things. It shall be better tomorrow - I take off for the mid-north coast. So if nobody hears from me by the 30th, send out the SES to look for a tall asian with a D70.

Hi Geoff,
I have the same drive but have never had any problems with it - was recognised by xp straight away. It is also fat 32. Did you install any drivers? I think they are available on the net somewhere - if all else fails maybe you could try that. I didn't need to do that however. Sorry - not much help actually.

Hi guys,
It looks like I have a problem with my USB2 drivers, so much so that my bro in law thinks a fresh format/re-install of WINXP is in order..so I'm backing up my GIGS of files now for the job tomorrow, not a job I like doing but oh well, at least it will freshen the PC up a bit?!?!
Geoff.

Good luck! Not much fun but it's always nice to start again with a clean slate.

Geoff, whatever became of this issue? Did the format get it working? BTW, Raydar won the puter in a xmas raffle - or his wife did. Lucky guy, but being HP, I sure hope you never ever need to send it in to the service centre for whatever reason (horrible personal experience).

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the box mate.
But on ferther inspection HP have changed there ways.
The parts are now interchangeable with any thing you like.
I’ll be doing all the maintenance my self I have heard about the support from HP & I an’t going there.
Cheers

6 buck PC, no complaint here! what can you buy with 6 buck today?
HP, We're HP partner but never rely on those Tech. support. They answer their phone from India one day, next day Kuala Lumpur, next day Manila, Phillippines, and last thing your box did not work after many Tech Support call.
Don't worry! 6 bucks PC, it cheap to trash it out into the recycle bin.

You got that right Birdy
I’ve put my DVD burner in it & a few other bits & pieces & all is well.
I’m quite happy with the speed of the Pent 4; I’ve always been an AMD fan.
The main thing it has spead up Photoshop CS so that's a good thing!!!!!
I’ll keep this thing for a wile it owes me nothing
Cheers
