Draft L-Plate Document - Feedback Wanted

Hi everyone,

I've just put together this little document, its a bit rough but I wanted some feedback. Its isn't quiet a DYI guide, its more like broken documention of the process in which it was made. I didn't even know if it would interest anyone else. I need to take some better shots of the finished product, and I'm annoyed I didn't get more shots of it being made (I do have more, just didn't want to make the draft too big).

I've also used mega compression so the 69mb documents is only 1mb in PDF. Please if you have a quick chance, download it and give it a read.

Craig, a great way to get close to your grandfather With using two plates in the construction, for non Benro users, the cost advantage may not be so great to outweigh the loss of rigidity resulting from using aluminium plate. Innovative.

Thanks Rel, I flash bracket might be next on the cards when I visit them next. My grandfather has been very sick and in and out of hospital a lot recently. I'm a great believer that if you keep the mind and hands active can slow the ageing process. It was a great little project and near the end I even got to use the tools Hehehe, overall this was a very simple project that had we just bought a bolt that fitted would of been finished in 2-3 hours, mind you it was great fun with the blow torch making stuff from scratch.



Glen - Originally it was going to be a 1 peice design, however the scrap metal we used was just too thin to make it above the lips of the tripod. Had we justed a thick piece we could of kept it to once piece (not Benro plate required) and it may have also stiffened the plate more. However to be honest I have done a fair bit of early morning and night photography with it and haven't had any issues with movement etc.

I'll pass on the feedback to my grandfather I'm sure he'll be chuffed

Now craig can you make a flash bracket that fits the arca swiss double dovetail, if you can do that i will pay you well

* The final cost of the project ($40 for a base plate + scrap metal)

+ how many hour of labour work?

$40.00 (Benro plate) + Minimum cost of labour? + quality and design, does it equal the value of the RRS or Kirk's L bracket?
