new gitzo tripod rocks!!! Who wrote this description?????

Postby atencati on Sat Oct 23, 2004 3:39 am

Quotes: "the material’s lightweight and fire-proof properties."

"melted at extreme temperature (2732 degrees F)"

guess its not fireproof after all......

"to use the tripod near and in fresh water"

"basalt makes up most of the world’s ocean floor"

It makes up the ocean floor, but is only good in fresh water?????

"basalt tubes won’t get hot and cold to your touch"

If it is completely immune to ambient temperature, what temperature is it??? I bet if you put it in the freezer it would get cold to touch. Whatever marketing guru put this one together needs to re-read it.

Oh, btw, How much, I'd buy one!

Normal fires don't get that hot, you'd have to stick it into a furnace to get it to melt.

I guess you've never been to North Africa in the summertime. I am sure it got close to that temp when i was there. It sure felt like it.

atencati,

For the first time yesterday, I sat down with my 'GITZO' G-1327, attached the newly acquired Markins M-20 with QR plate, then the D70 with RRS 'L' bracket and loaded up 70-200VR and RRS/LCP-10 foot. Then attached my Xmas present to myself, SB-800. Then I opened a bottle of South Australian 'RED WINE' and sat back and appreciated it all. God it is good to be alive. As you can see I am more than pleased with what I have acquired.

Out of this comes one thing, when loaded up the 'GITZO' is rock solid and would even stand up with a stiff breeze blowing. As 'Birddog' would say 'GITZO' rules.

Cheers,
fozzie
