Viewing images between D70 and D70S

Postby Spooky on Fri Feb 10, 2006 4:40 pm

Noticed that if I take images on the D70s and then later put the card into my D70 it is unable to display the images and vice versa.

Is this the expected behaviour? If so the cameras must have different formatting or something, I would have thought they were close enough to display images from each other.

I think you will find it is because one is suing

100NCD70 and the other I'm guessing is 100NCD70S ?

Anways I have a directory structure that looks like 100_____, so when I put my card in another camera displays the right number of shots left, but it can't view them.

In the camera menu you'll find a section on folder names.

When you say 'take images' Spooky, do you mean JPGs or NEFs? If it's the latter, it might be to do with the different ways in which certain aspects pertaining to image data are stored in NEF of the two cameras.

There was a huge HUGE, unbelievably HUGE - on the same scale as the current D200 banding issue, controversy regarding the D70s's white balance information being encrypted inside the NEFs it produces.

Good pickup Onyx, wonder whether it's just the EXIF setting thing (which I can't remember right now  )

I have found swapping cards from D70 (not upgraded yet) to D70s can cause serious file errors and lock the card. Shooting NEF.

reformatting will solve this problem but it is not a fun thing to have happen during a shoot. :(
