Canon 500D close up filterI am looking to buy a 77mm Canon 500D close up filter with a step up to also fit 72mm lens. I intend using it on both my 24-105 and also my 135 f/2 which, of course, have differing size filters. Does anyone have any idea where I can purchase one, either on line or in retail stores. On phoning a couple of stores, the only ones they have are for 58 mm filter size.
Cheers and thanks in anticipation. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

Sheila I bought one from Birddog some time ago. You might like to ask him if he still has one.

I need both the 500D and the step up ring.

Sheila... you're not likely to find a 77mm 500D anyway in Oz for sale. Unless things have changed since I last looked into it Canon were not bringing any in.
I'd suggest going straight to B&H or one of the HK suppliers. The step up rings shouldn't be too hard to trackdown.
Thanks. I may check out Digital Rev Oz who seem to have a few. Cheers Sheila Sheila Smart

You could check out KeaPhoto-OZ as well. I bought my 500D from them. Daniel Nikon D4, D2Xs, D70, Nikkors and Sigmas lenses from 10 to 400mm

I was wondering approximately how much the 500D would cost?

77mm 500D is around or over $240.00 I'm telling you this: if you use it often than it worths to get it otherwise just forget it. It's hard to control and doing macro shooting. If you're seriously in macro, save up and get a proper macro lens. Birddog114

Although I think it'd be handy though, and the price isn't that bad. Blog: http://grevgrev.blogspot.com

I have one, love it
I have one largely because a lot of my macro shots are when I'm running about in the bush. It's bad enough lugging the 70-200IS and 18-50/2.8 without adding even one of the 100-ish macro lenses. Having the "big filter" size 500D makes life easier, and with the 2x TC gives me 1:1 macro ono. A hidden advantage of the 500D is that in the dry, dusty conditions that Australia does so well you don't have to remove the lens from the camera to switch to macro mode. I've spent enough of my life trying to shift stuff off the sensor to be very happy about this. http://www.moz.net.nz
have bicycle, will go to Critical Mass
With macro diopters one can usually go for the smaller size and a step-down ring. I have no idea whether the one you want comes in 72mm, though... Cheers Steffen.[/b]
