My D70 has died

Postby Jeff on Mon Feb 20, 2006 8:46 pm

I recharged my battery fitted it back into camera and the dreaded blinking green light.
Camera went to Maxwells they sorta indicated that it may be covered under warranty, camera is about 2 yrs old. Very poilte but they do not have stock of the part and may take 3 weeks. What will I do with my spare time,I'm sure my wife will think of something.

Jeff,
Sorry to hear your drama, yes she might do something special for you. BTW, take the Sigma 70-200 out and look thru its glass for the time being.

I feel for you Jeff.

At the weekend my D70 wouldn't turn off, just kept on!! and also it had CHA come up on the top LCD and wouldn't take a picture.
I managed to get it going but it gave me quite a scare!

Jeff, I would hope it takes ages to be fixed and ask for the french maid outfit every night till it is fixed. Good luck

Matt I've had the CHA problem twice. It's a sign of a possible fault in the D70 - a known issue in the middle batches of D70 units (ie those NOT affected by BGLOD), but can also indicate a faulty CF card. To isolate the problem I've retired the CF card to see whether the problem retires as well

Hey Matt - same thing happened to me last October - took it off to Andersons, and they replaced the electronics (apparantly, were 'buggered'), and had it back to me the following afternoon. Upgraded the firmware and cleaned the CCD at the same time :)

Hope yours is still ok? Mine did it on and off for about a week (I just kept thinking I must have forgotten to turn it off, and then realised that nope, I did) before going to the camera doctors.....

Take it in for a tune up

Jeff, thats no good mate. Might be time to get a raise for that new job, and buy a D200!!! :D But lets face it, the french maids outfit isnt all that much of a down side.

Hope you get your camera back soon, you'll need it for the motor festival!

Cheers,

Alan.

Can't see a downside to either of those suggestions.

Thank you all for your concern .Just a update, rang Maxwells today several times could not get reply always on hold, left mobile number no return calls as yet. I know that lots of people have complained about them but I am willing to see what will happen. I must admit they have not won me yet.
