Advice please with "problem" CF cardI recently had an unusual experience with a 2GB Transcend CF card.
I shot a wedding with images on 4 cards all together. I downloaded them in my card reader no problems to my PC. When I placed the 2GB Transcend card back into my D70 I hit play and a message saying the Card needs to be formatted come up. I was unable to display the images I had taken earlier that day on the D70 screen. I tried the other cards in the camera and they displayed the images okay. I put the "suspect" 2GB card back into the card reader and looking in windows explorer I was unable to access the card, windows came up with a message saying that the drive needs to be formatted. So it appears after downloading this card it has become corrupted to the point it is unreadable by my card reader or the camera. Any ideas on how this might happen and what could be the cause? Should I now consider the card suspect and not use it? It is probably only a few months old and has only been used 8 or 10 times. Or is it my card reader corrupting the card? Advice appreciated
1/ How often is it happened?
2/ Have you formatted the card with the camera or on card reader? I don't hear any issue or problems with Transcend cards so far, Yes, I used Transcend 2Gb/ 4Gb and 8Gb Birddog114

I can't tell you much about if it's just happened once. Not and never happened to me in the past. Birddog114

Re: Advice please with "problem" CF card
G'day, Not sure if this is a help or not... Which error was on the LCD, was it "For" or "CHA"? Aka Andrew
Rats, CHA I can help you with as I get that a bit... Haven't had the For error... When transferring were the files copied or "moved" from the card (which is basically just a copy and delete)? Just wondering whether the card reader actually wrote to the card or just read from it...
If you have several, all I'd do is format the card and is at as your #4 card, might never happen again, or might... Aka Andrew
I use picture project transfer to copy my images off the card to my hard drive. The other 3 cards worked so I don't think it was this process that caused the problem.
Any tests I can do on the card once I reformat it to maybe detect a possible problem.
why not just transfer to a new folder on your desktop, then open said folder with any software you want ........ Cheers ....bp....
