Today Only 28/02 JBW

Postby Alpha_7 on Tue Feb 28, 2006 8:40 am

On Jones Bay Wharf today, they are filming a european Hair commerical involving a good looking model and a small helicopter landing metres from our deck and office space. If anyone has some free time they are currently setting up for the helicopter to land (it was here yesterday, but I was at home.. grrrr).

Jones Bay Wharf is in Pyrmont, near the Star City Casino, let me know if you need more directions ?

First helicopter just landed, and it was just to drop off the director / or film dude, snapped a few shots of his big arse lens. Just dumping the CF to HD, so I have a empty card for the real helicopter

I just took a few of the model, but I missed the today's first take, and I have too many meetings today, but I'll try to sneak out and take a few more during the day.

Strange having helicopter land within spitting distance... unfortunately during shooting they have the helicopter running, so it's rather noisy!

We have had our first wardrobe mulfunction and also our first hissy fit from the model. It really its a LOT of work behind even just a shot commerical, it must be expensive too!

There was more then one.

Shooting at this location has just finished, I think the rest will be airborne shots from a second chopper. It was an interesting experience watching them at work, it's not as easy as it looks.

Well I haven't post processed any, and well these are the only ones I've converted to Jpeg so far, as we all had a general giggle (my office) at the wardrobe malfunction which I briefly caught on (can't say film) caught on CF.

If they are considered it to bad taste then please delete the post, had you seen how posh and pretension this darling was, you may have found it funnier. Lots of work to do (yes, I do do work too,) I'll post more tonight if I get a chance.

I have a few other shots of her of the dummy spits, where you can see her getting agro. It was a fun event to observe, pity they blocked public access at the bottom so I had to shoot only from the deck, but I'm pretty happy with the view it afforded, one a good note they didn't seem to care I was shooting them, shooting her. I used the 80-200 extensively, the kit for a few wider shots and also took out the neglected 70-300G for a few shots near the end.

nice capture and great sequence - tells an interesting story.

check out the GI joe kung fu grip on the handbag and sunnies throughout the sequence - obviously worth much more than a little modesty.

LOL, too be honest I'd feel kind of cheap getting a POTW at someone elses expense, but thanks for the compliment... :)

I do have more shots I want to share, but I've currently wading through months of paper work, and I have a strict deadline.. once it's out of the way the shots will be shared more freely :)

As a distraction from the paper work I converted a few more shots to Jpegs, straight from camera with a quick and dirty resize (sorry no sharpening). There are a little more sedate :)

excellent shots craig they look like advert art directed shots excellent angle and tone.
was the contrast due to huge lights on the model or did you get snazzy and play around with your settings?

Wendell, I didn't really tweak my settings much, at first I was shooting A Priority but quickly changed to using Shutter priority at 1/500sec I then need minor adjustments for the EV and shot a lot of Centre Weighted and Spot Metering.

So at a guess the contrast is due to the lights not my skills at tweaking, oh and sadly no PP has been done yet, hopefully it will help improve some of the shots.

That's pretty much it, but do it multiple times, from different angles, different combinations of glasses on, glasses off, etc

Funnily she had a 'stunt double' so she didn't have to get tired or hot, when they were setting up the shots, the stunt double was 2 inches shorter to had to walk around on her tip toes.

HI,

TFCD = Time Free for CD or TFP = Time Free for Prints. Models give there time free and so does the photographer. Model speak :-)
